Teacher and Students think Bodybuilding is unhealthy

today in my Health Promotion class in my exercise science program the teacher asks us to mention 1 person that is influential in the realm of health. I said arnold and immediately she sais...no way.,..he used steroids...he was very unhealthy. The class was dominated by girls...maybe 15 of them (all pretty cute) and 3 ugly guys that didnt say shit during the class, and me..the only bodybuilder (competitive). A girl immediately sais after the teacher "youre right...and bodybuilding in general is very unhealthy." I Immediately said..."thats like saying one of our teachers in this program thats a marathon runner is unhealthy since excessive running places stress on the knees, joints, etc." The teacher goes on to say "show me evidence that bodybuilding is healthy for you, they dont do any cardio, and their diets are not healthy either...so they are not very fit."

I think these girls are so prejudice towards bodybuilders..but at least i did stand up for myself, and im lucky i was able to control myself from these idiots. Can anyone give me a peer reviewed article or two stating that bodybuilders DO cardio? Also one showing their diets ARE healthy in general? She stated most DONT do cardio..oh come on. Which i dont believe. Id love to prove these skinny guy loving bitches wrong.

Bodybuilding is my antidrug without it I would eat pizza drink beer and smoke cigs all day when Im not working of course. Theyre just jealous because you can crush their skulls with one hand.

How does your teacher make a division between resistance training and bodybuilding ... both are the same , one is just taken to the extreme .

There has to be a million studies done of the benifits of resistance training and the health benifits it brings , your teacher would be the biggest idiot on the planet not being able to research that .

Perhalps the stigma of the heavyweights are all your classmates are seeing , guys competing in the lower weight classes almost appear normal till they disrobe .

Marathon runners are the worst athletes ever .... there are hundreds of pages written on how piss poor it is on your body , once again someone is'nt doing there research

BTW : Cardio is for cardio health not for shaping the body , doing cardio has no direct relationship to how heathly you are . What it does is increase the size of the left ventricle in your heart allowing a lower resting heart rate ... once again this is huge to research .

Your teacher and classmates are sterio typing

Way to go bro, I am glad you stood up for yourself as well as the rest of us.

Are you kidding?? BB is very unhealthy(competitive)..I've prepped many athletes (male & female)...and we've done some crazy stuff just to keep up with everyone else. 1-2 grams of test a week on top of tons of clen,T-3,diruetics,10 d-bols a day,etc.....yo-yo dieting...gaining 30lbs in 12 weeks....very HARD on the human body...trust me, I love BB but its gotten CRAZY these past few yrs...

Unless your talking pro or competitive i think BB is heathy. BB's generally eat very heathy and watch their drinking/smoking compared to the normal person.

Boy,your teacher sure stereo-typed BB'ers into one large group."They don't do cardio"?I would invite him to see if he could keep up with me.

I agree with the statement from a drug-abusing hard-core standpoint, but bodybuilders/weightlifters in general are MUCH more healthy than the average, sedentary adult.

I know plenty of guys in this boat , 90% of them won't take no for an answer and try play god with there genetics .

Then there are the fortunate few who's birth right it is to be massive and they hardy put forth any effort at all ... trying to be something your not is the trigger for drug abuse .

Look at the guys who competed in the 60's without a majority of the shit we have today ...... bodybuilders back then were geneticly gifted men , today every tom dick and harry wants muscles like arnold and stay " ON " for months and months at a time . There is " use " and then there is " abuse " , when you want everything and want it yesterday then yes thats very hard on the body ..

Believe it or not , there actually are guys who compete clean , there are shows up here in canada for natural athletes ... sure none of them will win the Mr O but then again thats not in there goals . You don't have to be a juice monkey to carry the label of a bodybuilder , you just have to choose your parent well because it's all in the gene's ........

I do cardio year round. I'm not competing anymore, but I stay healthy. All of my blood test have come back perfect. I'd like to see your teachers blood results. Profs like that are the reason why I dropped exercise science as a major when I was in college. I argued with them constantly... ;)
