Tea Party Founder Not Happy with It's Direction

I've posted about the tea party being a socially conservative movement years ago.

I watched Ken Burns new documentary about prohibition on PBS, shameless plug, and it's interesting how political issues can be co opted for the social agenda; Anti-German racism which the Federal Government fomented was what allowed the 18th Amendment to be ratified...

I watched some of that too. What I did catch of it was good.
It never ceases to amaze me how the record skips to the "same" song and the majority never notices. It's all due to the lack of knowledge of American's history. Political and Social.

I'll repost Jim De mint, the Tea Party Icon's speech to cpac...

I agree with Glenn Beck...study history with a critical eye...and listen to what politicians say in a friendly crowd...those are two of the only things I agree with Glenn about...

I don't care about others because I believe in God...I care about others because I have compassion and sometimes compassion is about "tough love"...handing out welfare checks by the government destroys the human spirit by making them dependent; Improving the life of another isn't about Jesus it's about self reliance and confidence.

Who really cares? If any party will starve the government out of revenue, they'll get the job done.

I'd support a Shia, gay, pot-smoking heroine addict if they'll make sure there's less government largesse to steal.

The issue as i see it is the "tea party" is not a political party, it's a value system that politicians are embracing to reflect the will of the silent majority, vs. the outspoken minority..

I think the ironic part is the original Tea Party was a group of "Left Wing loons" as the 18th century town crier version of Bill O'Reilly would be proclaiming in the streets that had an agenda of individual freedom and self determination that would lead to utter chaos. After all, without a monarchy there would be total chaos.... Authoritarian rule of law by a few elites is the only way to control the rabble and enforce social norms.

There is proclivity to authoritarianism and a rejection of the new and unfamiliar by humans that I think stems from evolution. Authoritarianism and xenophobia works well in survival situations but not so much when it comes to the advancement of civilization.
