Taking Creatine + ALA and getting...

amazing pumps. I'm taking 1200 mgs of Alpha Lipoic Acid along with 10 - 20 grams ofcreatine (effervescent and Phophagen) and just loving the results. I've been on this combo since 1/1/02 and plan to continue right through the end of March. Any other bro's getting awesome pumps and size from taking these two supps?
 
Day four....

So far so bad, I still don`t feel anything, I though this stuff hit you fast like Fina does, and even front loaded for the first two days...guess we`ll wait a couple more days.

And for anyone who wears contacts just a warning, put your contacts in before you spray this stuff on you...otherwise your eyes will prolly burn from handling the 1-Test for hours afterwards, I honestly had to almost call in sick because my eyes burned so bad from this stuff today (although it doesn`t burn the sprayed areas.)

I hope this stuff klicks in soon, cause so far this ain`t worth it.
 
Travel I think you posted on the wrong thread,,, I gave up on spraying that stuff on, got a 60cc syringe and suck up 5-6cc and gently put on my chest,, After it somewhat dries I put an a cotton tea shirt so I dont rub it anyplaces it does not need to be.....
 
Ive been on ALA 750mgs and creatine(loaded and now doing 15grams a day) for about 3 weeks now and im very happy with the results so far.But everytime i read about ALA in the search engine ,most people say take 1gram and up!So starting today im going to try it and see if it makes that much of a difference.I will keep you posted if i see a difference or not .....

I've taken up to 1.2g/day, honestly didn't notice any difference b/w 600mg/day and 1g/day. At 600mg/day i felt it worked pretty good. I do believe 600mg/day is the minimum at least for me however.
 
So risky you think id be wasting my money if i went up too 1gram a day?Do you think i should just stay with 750mgs?Cause in the long run it will start burning a hole in my pocket at 1gram(not that 750mgs is much cheaper).:redhot:

ps.Oh by the way just to let you know alittle bit about my stats im about 205-210 at 10%bf 5'8".....29yrs old and im using 250mgs.capsules by NOW....
 
I was wondering about ALA doses as well. Is there a recommended dosage to take to body weight ratio? For example, I know a lot of guys take 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. Anything similar for ALA?
 
Dacypher I take 1g of protein/pound as well. That's my minimum that i find actually makes a difference. As far as the ALA, most people will tell you 1g/day. I don't feel i need that much, sometimes my arms feel tight and get crazy pumps just on 600mg/day. I found that NowFoods ALA was not as good as the one offered at Beyond-a-century.com however. I bought the 100mg caps from them. Don't buy the powder it's a waste...

NY i think you need to find what works best for you. Try the higher and lower doses and see if there's any difference and work w/ what works best for you. For me it's both a money issue and the fact that I didn't notice a difference after 600mg doses.

My weight I don't know if it plays a part in any of this but i'm about 236 right now, just finished bulking.

I think dosage depends on your on body's ability to store glucose effectively. Do you do better on a low carb diet, or can you eat lots of carbs and stay lean? If you can, maybe stick to 600mg. I don't do well on high carb diets, as such, I prefer 1000-1200mg ED. It keeps me leaner, and helps me store carbs where I need them. Plus, I haven't got sick this year, and I normally get sick 3-4 times per year. Maybe my thinking is off, anyone? Bueller?
 
Ahh, good info guys, thanks. I just started taking ALA and got some nice pumps during my last workout and that was just from 600mg. Now I'm wanting to take more to get more pumps... :)
 
Growin' I'll have to rephrase that b/c you did bring up a very good point. I take about 600mg of ALA when I'm low carbing at about 100-130g of carbs/day. That doseage works best for me when eating that many carbs/day. When bulking I continue to take 600mg but I don't feel the same. Might need more, but i found this to work best when eating around that many carbs/day for me.

risky why do you think the powder is a waste? its alot cheaper than buying the capsules, the only thing I don't like is it burns my throat a little.
 
Ok... ALA when exposed to oxygen or light gets degraded.... so... that's why ALA will usually come in a dark colored bottle and wrapped, and in capsules. That's why creatine w/ premixed ALA is b.s. so it's to your benefit to find a good company that sells the caps.

I think that's because these peope are taking regular ALA. The r-ALA sold at the AF store under the brand name Glucorell is a much more potent version of ALA and as such people tend to take a smaller dosage.
 
ala is very unstable both to moisture light and heat...... so the good ol cell tech doesnt do crap..... its the dextrose and decent creatine....i got my own dextrose and pfanstiel creatine and i am getting better results..... ALA its real good though...i use 600 a day and i dont store carbs at all really. THen again i have been eating Low GI for almost 2 yrs now so my body is used to them i guess.... but i think the newer creatines such as v-12 and swole offer better pumps and keep the ala for the lean effect.

for me, i am not a person in ketosis, nor a heavy duty body builder. i eat around a 40 30 30, protein, fat, carb diet. and i play alot of sports, and do some weight training.

i feel my biceps are fuller when i take ala just before my food. is that the guage i should be using.

I think you have to just assume its working... I don't feel any specific pumps but I stay leaner when I am taking it.

Optimal dosages (according to Fonz's study) are 300mg of ala per 30 carbs and 100mg r-ala per 30 carbs...

if you arent getting the pumps while using creatine and ala then you have to make sure you are injesting high gi carbs with your creatine... your body needs something to transport the creatine to your muscles... ala will help with that... though it will not do it by itself.... best "everyday" source of hi gi carbs are pretzels (86)... if you are supplementing... dextrose would be your pick (100)
