T3 FAQ: Everything you need to know about T3

My reasoning is " that's what doctors say?"
I think you need to re-read the psot bro. It's more than that. But just because a lot of doctors are in the dark regarding steroids doesn't mean that everything they say is wrong.

And when I say someone has to be fucking moron to take T3, it isn't meant as a put down of anybody. It means that the act of using the drug is moronic -- but some people don't know that.

Okay, fair enough Big.

Being a journalist in the field I'm in close constant contact with all sorts of people in the medical field. Obviously, I know a lot of docs on roids and the understanding is unanimous that the public perception is misconcieved. But talk to almost any doctor, especially an endo, and they will tell you, that the thyroid is a very delicate gland and the use of T3 can cause irreperable damage.

I'm not going to mention any names but I personally know of one bodybuilder and a fitness model who overused levothyroxin to stay cut for photo session and now, they're on it for life.

These are the only two items in your post that tell me why t3 is dangerous. The first one is that any doctor will tell you t3 can cause irreperable damage and the other is that you know a bodybuilder and a fitness model that have had serious problems due to thyroid medication.

I am not faulting your conclusion, the risks of t3 may outweigh the rewards. I just don't see how you come to the conclusion you do. And in all honesty I probably never will.

chronic: Come to think of it, I can only think of one reason not to step in front of a moving car and that is, it'll probably hurt. Then again, I don't have studies to back that up. Sure, there are plenty of doctors who will agree but that doesn't mean anything.

As my grandma used to say; Some people refuse to see the nose in front of their own face. And as you say yourself....probably never will.

Chronic i think Nelson has a little bit more experience than you. U should of quit while u were ahead, but then again you never were...

ThaGame.

If you read my post I was ending the discussion (ahead or behind). Just curious why you think Nelson as more experience than I. And please don't say post count.

I don't think posts count at all, look at mine man
Nelson's post are always informational and complex, he knows his shit. i'm not saying u don't, i am just saying i agree with nelson on this one.

Isn't levothyroxine T-4 and not T-3?

I believe it makes sense that T-4 would have these effects, as you would be shutting down your own natty T3 production via negative feedback from the T4, and because you would be in calorie deficit, you also wouldn't be converting ANY of that T4 to T3, so yeah, taking T4 for extended periods would screw you up bad.

But do you really think that low dose (12.5mcg) per day of T3 would have that same suppresive effect?

SlateDrake: You have it backwards.

Yes, levo is T4, but the body converts T4 into T3. That's the natural process. So in effect, T4 is safer, because it allows the body to still do what's t's supposed to do. (Even though it's an exogenous source and can still supress the thyroid.)

Hypothyroidism occurs when the body can no longer convert T4 into T3. That's what makes taking T3 so dangerous. The thyroid doesn't do ANYTHING when that much T3 is present. it assumes there is TOO MUCH and comes to a standstill. When you go off the T3, the thyroid might spring back into action -- it might not. It might take a while -- it might never come back. Taking T3 is playing with fire. For what?
