Supplements for my 15 year old son

Really? I'd agree with some stuff. :)

Yes I think its case by case

but things like MRPs, or shakes should be ok

PS: let me amend my previous Recommendation.

Food, Rest, logical training, DON'T DRINK TAP WATER, have your son drink only real spring water that you can verify to be pure and from a pristine source.

I wouldn't worry about him getting slower from putting on weight. That's really overblown. Who's the dude on here - BigGame maybe?- that runs a sub 5 second 40 and is 300+. Not the greatest example, but TJ Duckett out of Mich St. ran a 4.44 40 yard dash at the NFL combines a couple years back at 260 pounds.

Another example -any guess where I went to school? - is Javon Ringer....RB for Michigan State. 5'9 198 runs a 4.35 40 and a 10.6 100 meters. Squat Max 500 pounds, deadlift max 500 pounds and bench max 315. This was before coming to State. According to an article I read just now his squat max is 600, but I doubt that is true.

Muscle is key and he's gonna need it if he wants to play D1 basketball.

Well my 15 year old son made his highschool football team. He's in GREAT physical condition, but could stand to put on 5 lbs of muscle.

He needs to remain very lean for basketball which is his #1 sport. I don't want him putting on much weight which could cut down on speed and jumping.

He is very lean, low bf and like I said, his conditioning is the best on his AAU basketball team. In fact, he always plays the ENTIRE game without a single break.

So I'm thinking a little creatine, maybe some aminos and of course protein.

So to you natural experts, you know who you are, what do you recommend?

supps - EFA's, whey & casein
training - 3x5 or some other functional strength program that has a lot of built in rest days

Thanks for the replies everyone. A few here need to give me a little credit.

That's pretty much what I had planned.

Protein supplements, maybe some light creatine, clean diet, hard training.

Trust me, he works very hard and is in very good condition. He currently weighs 145 at about 5' 11".

I want him to stay lean and light for basketball which is his first sport. Football is secondary.

football is secondary are you crazy!!!!!!!

haha just kidding

make sure you get him on some Fish oil too
needto has great deals on creatine

make him some thick ass protein shakes!!! lots of sleep hes growing /puberty

mattdan just be thankful he's into sports and has an interest in fitness. my teenagers are only interested in chasing skirt and bein cool. in spite of my example. btw your plan re your son sounds good and good luck with him.

All the posts look good...diet and training is all you need I mean lets face it the kids 15 so hes young and healthy..Just feed him properly and have him train hard..

protien is good and vitamins, but no creatine because it will add water and he has enough at his age.
