Study: Prescription prices are higher in poor neighborhoods

Yeah right, like Guadalupe PAYS for the meds for her 7 kids!

Prices too high? it's called the innteerrrneetttt....

too fucking bad; pharmaceutical companies don't have an obligation to give anyone medicine. It's ridiculous how much of a sense of entitlement everyone in this country has

Probably because the Pharmacies in that region have a lot more overhead and administration to collect the money from various government accounts/handouts.

I'm guessing less competition and higher operating costs too. Instead of a drug store on every corner, there's probably only one or two in the entire area. Poorer neighborhoods probably mean higher crime hence more pilferage too.

I never understood why pharmacists made so much money. 100k/year plus 20k signing bonuses....

For what? For taking "accountability" for what you have your technicians do? For googling meds when someone on the phone calls you? Counting pills and forwarding information is a lucrative business.

Back in the day, pharmacists were the gatekeepers for drug-drug and drug-allergy interactions. They also did compounding and other activities that pushed them closer to the role of the physician.

That's changed, since computers and automation do virtually all of that now.

Exactly..Did you know that the pharm tech is the one that prepares the meds? Did you also know that many places will hire a pharm tech with only a high school diploma/ged? Yet, the pharmacist gets mad money while all he does is talk on the phone, take orders via phone from physicians and over see what the techs do.
