Stretch Marks

For those who have stretch marks, what was the best way you found to diminish their size and or redness? I have just started using retin-a cream, how long does it take to work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I use coconut oil.......been using this for 3 weeks now......the redness is getting dull/mixing with original skin colour and the size is getting smaller too but at slower pace than the colour!! Hope this help...trust m bro it wont cost u a bomb to try this.....few $$....cheap and effective.

Cocca Butter does help, and also helps prevent expansion and formation of new marks. Some kinds are better than others. When my wife was pregnant, we experimented with this. There is a kind of Cocoa Butter that The Body Shop sells in a deoderant like stick form, and it is hands down the best type of Cocoa Butter we found. Plus, since it is in the stick, it is easy to apply.

Also, i havent used retin-a, but am friends with my dermo who used it on himself for 6 months - he said that he thought it was about worthless. He is on to trying laser treatments now. He thinks this is better, but overall he says that basically with stretch marks, one you get them, you have them. He also says that different parts of the body have responded differently to treatment. The parts he was trying on was the bicep-armpit-outer chest area.

don´t use retin-A !!! When you use Retin-A your Stretch mark looks more redness, because the Ingredient burn the skin every time you apply.....

Stretch marks never dissapear Bro....The only thing that you can do is changing the color from red to white that´s it!!!

Consider them battle scars. They will only really look less prominant when you shrink down. Don't want that to happen - so - let 'em grow!!.........

battle scaras my ass. they suck balls. and when they bleed you know you have them bad

Retin-a was the only thing that seemed to make a marked difference on fresh stretch marks. It will do nothing on older stretch marks. It took me 2-3 weeks to see some fading.

I've used vitamin-e before, but I can't really say if that helped, or if they were fading on their own. It was a pretty slow process with that.

The stretch marks which I used retin-a on are much less noticeable than those I didn't use it on. I used the 0.1% concentration, and it even helped on some of the deep fucking tears I had. The advantage of the retin-a definitely diminishes with the age of the stretch marks. Try to catch them when you first see them forming.

Retin-a just made my stretch marks look more red.

I've been using cocoa butter for awhile and it hasnt done much of anything...

i have stretch marks behind my shoulder, in the front of my shoulder and my biceps!!!! i hate this shit dude!!!!

Stretch marks sucks!!!

It is starting to look like my only option here is laser removal? Shit.

Bro, I wasn't trying to make fun of or minimize your issue. I've got a lot of them myself. I just want to make sure you understand the point of view of a bro thats down the road some from where you are now (read: I started getting them at age 21 and I'm now 37). They really bugged me when I first started getting them and they were really red. But it didn't stop me from training, and, vit E, various other creams didn't do shit for them. But, as they get older (over some years) they don't stay red, they are still scars, but, they just are not as noticible, and, you get used to them. They don't bother me at all now, and, haven't for 10 years at least. So, consider waiting on the surgery option, let it play out some....

TIME...nothing else, only thing you can do is put lotion on before workouts to help prevent them from getting bigger. laser doesnt work that great, and way to costly, atleast in my experiance with one on my arm. you could quit working out and use TAZORAC cream(doesnt work that great) dont really want to use it while you workout ever because it dryes your skin and they/it break open and can get bigger etc. I personaly dont think you can do a thing about them.

I guess I'll try retin-a and then try getting a deep tan. Fuck these things look awful.

Bad idea to use it and tan at the same time. The only thing that got rid of mine was laser treatment. :( Then again you will have to be careful for six weeks after the procedure:( ;) ;)

well retin A works by basically peeling off a layer of skin and then reforming new skin. plus you have to use retin A for long peroids of time with S marks

try mederma it seemed to help me a bit

While my wife was pregnant, the doctor told her that weather you are susceptible to stretch marks is genetic. All the lotions and creams do nothing. The only thing that helps them fade is time.

I know you can't use retin-a and tan...it says so on the medication.

Tiger what is mederma? How do you get it, what were your results, etc?

Effie, how much did laser treatment help?

no,just happned to me i guess, i was on accutane and it has a differnet effect with the heeling process of the skin

I have 1 strech mark. It's kinda in the arm pit area. I started using the coco butter cream that chicks use when they are pregnant. I've been using it for 2 weeks now. I've seen no difference in the strech mark what-so-ever... But on the back of the bottle it says that it looses up the skin and moisturizes it. So ive been putting it on, on the strech mark and around the area and on the other arm. And well I haven't gotten another strech mark, so, thats i guess whats keeping me happy.

Guys the most cheaper thing you can use and YES, EFFECTIVE, is your own cum. I'm not kidding. Make a little bit of research and you'll see how many nutrients and minerals it has. Even protein you can find in your cum; high quality. Just jerk off twice a day and apply to the area until it's gone. The nutrients will be absorbed by your skin.

Two problems: Retin-A is deactivated in sun or UV light. This is why the directions state to use it only before bedtime. Secondly, Retin-A drastically reduces skin sensitivity to sun or UV light, so tanning with retin-a will accelerate the skin aging process - moreso than tanning alone.

Retin-A has its place, buts its way overused. Especially by ones that use it on their face without proper precaution - meaning sunscreen at all times and minimizing outdoor activity...i've seen folks get facial wrinkles at a young age due to retin-a misuse.
