oh yeah, I've seen this video posted as proof to the effectiveness of open-handed slaps
Looks like the dude pre-emptively attacked the pimp when the pimp just came over to posture. not hard to do, but he had the expertise to make the blow count
what surprised me was how shut down the dude was after a hard slap
was that a backfist or something like that? and he got him in the neck/ear area kinda..
few things:
1. the guy didnt get bloodied up and didnt break a bone or anything but was ktfo that has its advantages
2. oh and this shouldve been #1 KEEP YOUR HANDS UP!!! he made that way to easy
3. mr lee struck as soon as that guy got into a good range for him and ended it instantly he was never really in any danger because the other guy never got into a range where he could attack
Maybe I'm wrong but from the video it looks like a hard strike right across the jaw, with the open hand chop might have even caught his ear. I don't think it was some kind of super secret nerve strike or anything. He hit the guy around the same area a boxer would try to hit with a right hook. The reason for the black dude's serious shut-down is pretty simple. He got a nice, hard, wide-open, shot on an untrained guy that wasn't expecting to get hit.
I'm not trying to down play it, I still think that was cool as shit.
He used a a closed handed backfist, which struck him hard enough in the side of the neck and jarred his 1 and 2 vert. This sent a shock to his brain, which shut down his brain and knocked him out. Basically the same thing that happens when a boxer gets knocked out.

It looked open to me; at first, when he raised his arm, I thought it was going to be a backfist, but in a closer look at the video his hand looks open. More of a back-hand chop.

Brachieal Stun I think it's called
sorry I can't seem to get the vid to play (am I doing something wrong)
anyway the stun (the way I was shown, and it sounds like what you guys are describing) is a blow to the side of the throat, near the ear I suppose the top of the hand would be just below the bottom of the earlobe (you know barring any strange earplacments or oddly sized hands) and it's just ment to cause a breif stun but if he really layed the hit in there it could probubly score some damage
we were taught to use it to stun the other guy then press the advantage, a stunned person is a great target
