Street racing

of course.
Stealth (red) twin turbo

Just last week i was racing my buddy (turbo talon) and we were goin about 120 through freeport center (long ass track).. And i slowed down cause i knew the road was ending, he did not; he started slowing down but then a car came.. He SLAMMED the break and did a 360 and ended up about 2 inches from the other car.. it was BADASS (he also dont got his license yet) :)

BTW i won..

I drive a 2000 SS Camaro. I have some goodies on board.
Lots of fun, I usually roll with a few supras, rx-7s, and other camaros.

I'VE STREET RACED MUSTANGS (88-93 BODY STYLE), A TRANS AM, AND A STREET BIKE. DONT DO IT ANYMORE THOUGH. THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE FASTER. I GOT TIRED OF SPENDING MONEY AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE ON THAT SHIT. STILL HAVE MY '93 THOUGH.

KAYNE

True, there is always somebody faster.

Rarely though is it a mustang faster than me.

I love smoking mustangs, and I usually don't have to tap the nos

even if they have forced induction

COME TO MY NECK OF THE WOODS WITH THAT SS. I KNOW A FEW KIDS WHO WOULD LOVE TO SMOKE YOU. YOU WOULD BE HANGING A PICTURE OF A MUSTANG ON YOUR REFRIDGERATOR AFTER THEY ARE FINISHED WITH YOU. LOL. N.O.S. OR NOT!!!

I love it!! There is not a car around that can run with mine. I have a 69 Nova with a 427 cu. in. BBC. It has gone 7.43 in the 1/8th and 11.06 in the 1/4.... with no juice.
It is awesome to drive a car that will yank the front tires off the ground.

my car does not like corners though.

DBALLER........I WAS THINKING MORE IN THE LINES OF A CAR YOU DRIVE EVERYDAY. LOL.

KAYNE

I drive it on the weekends!!!
I blew the tranny last weekend.. and I am re-gearing the rear-end this coming weekend!!!! It is still a really fast street car... your vision starts to black in 2nd gear,,, GAWD whaat a ride!!!!

I was running 4.10's... then a 5.13... now I just got the 4.56 Richmods ring and pinion... and I got an Auburn mini spool.
I had a 9inch Ford, But I just put the 12 bolt GM back in there.

It also has a BIG Isky solid lifter cam and a ATI 4200 converter.

I would have to de-tune it to drive it everyday.

I love my car.

Haha, like i said there is always somebody faster. And I know there are faster mustangs than me. :)

DBALLER
I KNOW A GUY YOU WOULD GET ALONG WITH JUST FINE!!! HE HAD A NOVA ALSO AND HE IS A CHEVY DIE HARD!!!

KARDE
HAVE YOU BEEN TO THE TRACK? IF SO, WHAT DID YOU RUN IN THE 1/4? ON GAS AND OFF.

KAYNE

I love Chevys.. but I also like Pontiacs... I have had 2 TAs and a GTO.... but I have had a shit load of Chevys.. I like the Nova the best. I will try to post pics tommorow if your intrested.

I'M ALWAYS INTERESTED IN A FAST STREET CAR. I MIGHT NOT STREET RACE ANYMORE BUT I'M STILL A FAN.

KAYNE

11.1 on the juice.
I don't remember what it was without it, been a long time since i have clocked it without. I am guessing 12.5

12.5 is pretty good for a heavy car breathing through smog pipes!!! Not to mention a small block!!!!

Mine will break into the 10's with the gas... but I don't have enough tire to hold it straight... I was thinking about tubbing it, but it is a real big block SS car... so it is not worth it.

DBALLER......THEY HAVE A FEW SMALL BLOCKS AROUND HERE THAT GO LOW 11'S AND HIGH 10'S. THE GUY ACROSS THE STREET FROM ME HAS A SMALL BLOCK STROKER MOTOR IN A 69 CAMARO THAT RUNS 9.50'S ALL MOTOR.

KARDE
WHAT SIZE SHOT ARE YOU SPRAYIN?

KAYNE

9.50 on motor??? If I could get 11 inch or bigger out back and I but the 2 stage NOS there is no telling what it would run.... I am sure it would be in the low 10's to mid 9's!!!!
I love drag racing... I gotta go to bed.. this thread could keep me up all night!!!
adios amigos

LATER DBALLER........I KNOW ITS HARD TO BELIEVE ABOUT THE 9.50'S ON MOTOR BUT TRUST ME, ITS TRUE!!! HE IS TOTALLY ANTI NITROUS ALSO.

KAYNE

I believe you... it can be done... it costs alot of money!!! And a ton of time tuning!!!

Street Racing. Have not done that shit in around 6 months or so. Let me look for my last ticket and Bond Receipt and I will tell you when it was.

Here in Michigan, first offence= loss of car...

Karde- Your Camaro sounds nice, but dont talk bad about Mustangs, it will come back to bite you in the ass. Expecially if you run into me or a few of my buddies here in MI.

But I will say you have a bad ass car and it is FAST.

Here in south florida, there's a couple places you go, and its like the movie "fast and furious". except its out in the middle of no where, and the cars all park on each side of the road. the location changes each weekend, between 2-3 different spots, and start to really roll at 11pm and go till the cops usually come.
anyways, i race my 93' Ford lightning, got a good couple bolt on goodies, along with full 2.5" exaust from headers back, with hooker mufflers, and cats removed. it has 4.11 rear end. it does good in the 1/8 mile, right under 9 seconds, havent tried 1/4 yet.
i just bought a 99' mustang GT this weekend, mint condition. its my next project.
hey dballer, bad car, you have a pic you can post.

First off, that sounds like a nice motor for your car.

kk, 7AL box is what you have. No more questions. ;)

Question: Earlier, you said "and a ATI 4200 converter" and now you say it has a "MSD 6AL box". Y did you spend the extra on the "AL" box when all you needed was the "A". The "AOL" box is for manual cars. Just wondering???

yes I did... the car has an ATI stall Converter for automatics ... that part goes between the transmission and the flywheel

The MSD 6AL box is the ignition... it goes inside the car or next to the fenderwell.

these two parts have nothing to do with eachother... well besides they are bolted on to the same car.

dballer said:

The MSD 6AL box is made for different shift points or rev limiters. More for a manual car, but not JUST for.

The MSD 7AL is the box that you need. It is for High Horsepower cars that need the extra ignition boost.

I have the 6AL on my car with the 7,000rpm chip.

I drive a 93 Rx7Twin Turbo- mostly setup for road racing..on my street setup running 18" Blitz03 rims and pushing somewhere around 300hp..

dballer,
That is a bad ass Nova, the 427 by far is my favorite Chevy engine.

As for me I will not even talk about my stone of a Chevelle, nice looking but is way too slow to race. I am selling it this summer and want to pick up a 65-67 GTO. Once I finally get a decent job I will be able to start thinking about going fast.

What year is the Chevelle? It may be cheaper to build the Chhevelle than a Goat... well I mean I know it is cheaper. I had a 66 and a 69 GTO.... the 66 never ran though.

Its a '72, I was able to pick it up for under 3 grand. It looks pretty good but the frame isn't the best, to many Chicago winters. I do not think it would be able to handle too much horsepower. I have always loved GTOs and would really like to get my hands on one. I know it won't be cheap though.

Well I got smoked by a ShitStang SALEEEN. Fucker took off like a bat out of hell. He got 2 car lenght in front of me but I was closing in at 120mph. I know it was the 351 and he probably had a shit load of goodies. My car is a LT1 stock M6 Formula. But she's getting headers, catback, and Ram Air by next Spring. I'm guess new times should be 13.4-13.7 depending on take off. NOS, SC, or Cam might go in as well but I'm debating which one.

If you are running a completely stock LT1 Formula, it by NO means takes a S351 to beat your ass. Right now you are probably running , 13.9-14-2 or so, depending on how you drive. A completely stock Saleen Speedster (they are stock GT's with suspension work) runs around 14.1. A S351 runs around 12.2 or faster.

Not saying it wasnt an S351, but I have only seen 2 in my life, and neither were on the road. It could have even been a supercharged GT Saleen.

Technology is the only replacement for displacement.

Sorry, dont have a big block so I had to throw this in.

again.. there is no replacement for displacment. If you run a roots style blower and inject a big block with alcohol, a small block will not touch it.
I have never watched a Pro Mod with a small block. Maybe with bugjet in mind, the small blosk is the choice for street cars. But for going in a straight line you cannot beat a big block. I am not taking credit away from small blocks.. but there is no way you can get one to build the same kind of power as a big block. The big block is not as practical... but they do not make small block mountain motors. This goes for ford and chevy.

Not a serious racer.. but like to have fun when the opportunities arise..

I have a 95 Nissan 300ZX with a few mods..

- New Intake
- Fittipaldi Racing Rims
- Split Fire spark plugs..

not that much hp.. but it handles like crazy! and it looks sweet!

You get in the low 11's and you have a good shot at anything with the exception of a Hayabusa. I see kids with GSXR's out at the strip ever weekend (that is what I do 3 days a week)... and I know the numbers. There is a guy out there with an 86 GT with a 2 stage 275 horse system. Ge runs 10 inch w series... No bike out there can run with him... oh yeah, he drives it there!!!!

The amzing part is that his block is stock. He is running the most boost of any TT kit with a stock block! I think his last dyno was 450+ rwhp, but he hasn't posted on ls1.com because he kinda rooked the kids out of money with his shiftlights.

I'm sure he's much faster now then when his last dyno session was.

If you get in the low 11's high 10's then you pretty much have a good shot at any bike on the street except for a GSX or anything insane like that.

Last dyno I seen was 46? to the wheels. He has been having tons of trouble making all the lights that people are ordering. He even had about 10 people from around here help him one weekend to try to finish shit.

I did it for about 5 years ( that was about 4 years ago)

I had a 1972 LT1 Camaro. Nice car, I wish I had it today:(

I see all these kids with their lawnmower cars.. you know the civics and neons.. it makes me laugh. They spend all this cash to go fast.. as fast as my pickup truck to street race.. while down the road at a dimly lit industrial park there are some guys with $5000 dollar camaros and novas are pulling the front tires off the ground and laying down some 10 second times.

They had some test and tuna at the local track this weekend and alot of the rice boys came out and got mad at me for makin fun of the 13 second passes they were makin in the 1/8th mile!!!

I have a 1972 Chevrolet Vega.. it is a Super Stock Eliminator drag car,.not for the street.. I got rid of my street race car..

Dont let the rumors fool ya. This car was worked and it was fast.

I had an L98 that was rebuilt from the crank up with some aftermarket work done to the heads. Most of everything else was bolt on but the car had over 300HP at the crank. At the wheels i was guessing about 230-245. I only took it down the track a few times and was in the low 14's. But i fucked up on the start. I was using street tires and I spun out and got the thing almost sideways on the track. My car was automatic too.

I sold out and went riceboy for a little.

The thing got less than 10mpg the way I drove and I needed to get to school and back which is kinda far. Plus the insurance on the car was alot, even though i told the insurance company it was a regular firebird. And it couldnt handel in any weather other than nice. If it waswet out the thing would just spin tires all over the place.

I'm about to buy my first musclecar in a month or sooner. Looking to buy a 67-69 Camaro rs/ss with a 396ci motor. I'm new to racing but have always loved the look and sound of the classic cars. Any recommendations of what to look for or add to the camaro to make it badass dballer???

This thread is funny.

In my opinion, MOST people who drive camaros, mustangs, most american muscle cars in general, are white trash. I'm not trying to piss on your guys parade, but you have to admit alot of people that drive those cars are like that.

In your guys opinion, anyone who drives a honda, etc is a riceracer or whatever the slang is.

It's all personal preference though. I'm not really into street racing, just looks. I've thought about putting a Hartge 5.0 engine in my 01 325i but it's not worth the cash. If I were to do that I might as well trade my car in and get the m3.

Plan on spending some coin on the car too.. 67-69 are really pricey. My friend has a 68 right now.. it is nice. He is selling it.. it has a built 383 in it.. the car is fast enough where your vision starts to black out in second gear with only the first stage of nitrous. It will pull the tires off the ground on the street!!!

Anyone who drives a riceboy car is a moron.. lets see here.. the objective is to go fast.. right? Well considering that there is NO lawnmower car that will turn a 9 second quarter that still drives on the street and you can do it in a Camaro or a redneck car... who are the idiots here?
for the price of a STOCK honda accord I can but 3 camaros..

if you want to go fast.. you buy a V8 American car. and be a redneck
if you want to listen to eminem and act fast.. but a Izuzu
if you want to be a fratboy yuppie.. get the M3

A kid driving a Honda dosn't bother me at all. Now a kid driving a Honda with a fart pipe muffler, 50 stickers for parts that he dosn't even have, and a huge spoiler does. It is annoying when they try to pawn these cars off as race cars.

For racing purposes (which this thread is about) you simply can not beat American muscle.

Easy on the frat boy yuppie comments. BMW's are great cars.

Anyways, the reason they buy hondas is because in most people's minds, a honda does look better than a camaro or something similar. They want a little of each, looks and performance.

Like I said, each to their own. If you prefer american muscle, good for you, if you prefer japanese imports, good for you, unless of course the only reason you buy it is to put NOS stickers and other things on it to make it LOOK fast but have nothing under the hood. Alot of people do that and I find it funny. Not only are they lying to themselves, they're making their car look worse.

Exactly. Solely racing, american. Looks and not quite as good racing, japanese import. Solely looks but the ability for racing, european import.

I still gotta go American for looks. IMO there is nothing better looking then a 1969 Chevelle SS, although a 65-67 GTO comes close.

Not that pricey.I've found 3-4 to my liking that were under $15,000. I'm not looking for matching numbers. Just a nice straight car that runs good and fast. I'm getting one for sure though. Mid May at the latest...

I personally don't see putting the time in effort it takes to supe up a Honda accord. Kinda silly actually. The car wasn't fast in the first place so why the fuck bother. Plus there's a million and one eminem wanna bes' with the same car almost. Why not own a muscle car and have something that hardly anyone owns...

My thoughts exactly. Putting nice rims and a loud muffler doesn't make a car...

The one I really have my eye on is around $13 I believe. There was also one on ebay that I really liked. The only thing thing I didn't like about it is that it was automatic. I'm very partial to the rs/ss models with the hideaway headlights. The only fucking thing is that there's really not many locally that I can buy. So I'll either have to pay for shipping(which costs an additional $500-$2000 depending on what part of the country it's coming from)or drive to the location and drive it back. Oh well...

p.s. I'll be emailing you soon dballler... :D

EBay may not be the place. I will keep my eyes open down here. I run into alot of cars. For over $10 you can find a really nice one.

shoot me a mail and I will help you find it.

adios

If you want a fun car to make go fast in a straight line, try moddifying a Buick Grand National. Don't expect to make any turns in it though...lol.

Karde.. good choice.. but don't let the secret out of the bag.
Those cars are factory missles!!!

GMC Syclone is another really fast one.

I don't race seriously anymore. I still do a little stop light to light action or open it up on the highway but don't drive around town looking for just that.

I bought a mint condition 91 Stealth ES. My dad had it in his garage for the last four years and didn't want a stick shift anymore. I bought it because it was mint and the price is cheap, didn't have anything to do with speed;this is the non-turbo version. There is so many times I'll have kids in Civics and Mustangs peel out next to me at a light. Sometimes I jump on it but alot of times I let it go.

Now when I'm on the bike..races are rare. Last one I had was the current genration Vette and that was last year.

I had big and small block GMs and Mopars throughout my life. I guess now that I'm a little older I just want something that I enjoy and that it doesn't have to be all muscle. I would love to get a '57 Chrysler 300C but I can't afford one right now. I know of a Studebaker Hawk that is for sale..so who knows might have to add a car to the collection. Found out the guy will throw in a blower and dual quad set up of an Avanti with the deal.

I don't actively race, but when punks in their lowered Accords want to tear it up I oblige them.

I ride a Hayabusa. Haven't been beat yet. :)
