Straps

Weight lifting/ power lifting straps,
Im looking into getting my self hooked up with some,
(i will be adding in extra grip work to compensate the strap usage)
who here uses straps?
and what brands do you recommend?
thanks all.

I just bought the cheapest pair off ebay that I could find, I figured straps are straps what extra can you be paying for with the expensive ones?

The only things I use them for are power shrugs out of the rack and for hanging wide off the chin bar with extra weight around my waist for lat stretching...

Cheapest pair you can find, nothing special about them. Unless you want something fancy, they end up getting ruined at some point so no sense buying expensive ones.

They were perfect for heavy shrugs and deadlifts for a time, now....chalk is king.

Chalk is great, but doing power shrugs without straps can be really difficult.

That said if you can do them heavy with just chalk you got some man mitts.

Thanks guys, I use chalk for the majority of my lifts anyway (and i totaly agree with you guys on it, chalk kicks ass)
but this will just be for the big lifts, - Power shrugs, big deads and maybe some big rows,

what about with belts?
Who uses them? do you feel "tighter" (/or stricter? ) - form wise?
I mean my form is pretty good as a whole anyway, but is that also something worth investing in?

thanks for all the feedback though! :)

I use straps (actually hooks), for cable lat pulldowns, rows, and if I did deadlifts anymore (bad back, so I don't). Mine are good ones; about $50 if I recall. They're the best I've found, and they can be used as regular straps, or just hooks, or both. They're "Haulin Hooks". Not sure if they still make them, and I don't want to post a link since the forum has certain rules about links, and I can't remember on that kind of link. I also got the nonslip rubber sleeves for the hooks, which help a LOT. Otherwise, the hooks can slide sideways, and that can lead to a really painful situation of a fold of your hand skin between the hook and the plate; OUCH!

Google "Haulin Hooks"
