Stop Kidding Yourselves!

Okay, here's this weeks pet peeve.

I'm tired of hearing people who say "MY GOAL IS...."

Shut the fuck up!

I don't want to hear that you want to gain 20 pounds or get your bodyfat to 8% or any other lofty nonsense.

YOU SHOULD HAVE ONE GOAL AND ONE GOAL ONLY -- BUILDING MUSCLE!!!

Bodybuilding is about having as much muscle and as little fat as possible. That's a lifestyle. It encompasses training, eating right, supplementation and anabolic enhancement. They all work toward the same goal. Stop this bullshit about one cycle to lower bodyfat and the next cycle to gain lean muscle and the next cycle to grow 2" on your dick. Just lift the fucking weights and don't shove crap in your mouth and the rest will take care of itself.

There's no way of knowing how much muscle you'll grow at any time. What's the difference? Just keep going.

And if you're going to use supplements, use good ones and stick to it. Don't take an occasional pill now and then and expect miracles. I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone say a supp doesn't work and they didn't even finish the bottle. You must keep your body saturated with these compounds. Natural ingredients have short "half- lives." You need to take them every day.

This is a lifetime pursuit. Keep doing it and you will get better. But stop kidding yourself that it's a detailed plan that requires going from step A to B to C until the end result is perfection. It doesn't work that way. Make the goal to be as good as possible. ALL THE TIME.

A note to newbies-- when you cycle, the results will be the same -- only better and faster. Anabolics enhance. But if you've got nothing to enhance you will surely be disappointed so don't waste your time and money.

Get real or get out. This stuff is serious.

just b/c u want to get the biggest possible, you should always have goals for yourself. i like to do this with weights as well. i.e. i want to 1x bench 300lbs but don't want to stop there, this is just a point i want to strive for at the moment. once i get 300lbs the goal moves up, then i reach the new goal, it goes up.....on and on. GOALS ARE GOOD make them and break them......set them higher.

You and miplank are both missing the point. I'm not saying you shouldn't have goals. But when they become specific expectations it's unrealistic and ultimately useless. The goal should be to be better. Period.

What if someone is more than happy with their weight and just wishes to retain what they have while dropping bodyfat...

Yes diet but no one can drop only fat when on a calorie restricted diet. Anabolics do help.

Not everyone is the same and as MMW has said, just cause your goals are to add muscle, doesn't mean his are.

Im not sure why you would say not to have specific goals. A sense of accomplishment is good for the mind and soul. I think your philosophy works well with studying the bible, but not the physical activity of lifting weights and bettering yourself. Just my opinion.

AMEN Bro! It is a lifelong pursuit. If you're a bodybuilder then your goal should be to get big, ripped and symmetrical. If you are a power lifter or strong man competitor your goals should be to get stronger.

You can't predict the results of any cycle accurately. It's not only the compounds it's the whole ball of wax, training, nutrition (which I think is the 2nd most important element), gear and recovery which go hand in hand. The gear helps you recover faster. It's not magic. I see too many bros that only focus on the gear and seem to forget the rest.

I met a guy in my gym last yr and he was asking me what I took. When I told him 500mg Test-E and 400mg Deca/wk he thought I was full of shit. He was about 6 ft tall and 185 lbs. He told me he was taking 1.5 grams Test-E per wk, and 800mg wk of EQ, along with 50 mg Dbol ED and he hadn't been off cycle in 5 yrs and couldn't gain shit.

I told him I though he was taking way too much gear. I have never taken that much gear in 1 cycle in my life. I tried to explain it isn't the gear that makes all the difference. When we got into the conversation of training, nutrition and recovery he was way over training and under eating. When I pointed this out to him he wanted to argue that it was his genetics and he was a hard gainer and no matter what he did he couldn't get any bigger.

I finally gave up and told him, well I guess you're right Bro. I must not know shit because I'm only 5' 9", 265, 8% B/F and have had a pro card for nearly 20 yrs. I guess I must just be lucky and left him alone.

The moral of the story and the MOST important ingredient Nelson didn't mention here is...Have an OPEN MIND. Make it a point to try to learn something new about the lifestyle everyday. Read this board and others, read a few books on training, nutrition, supplementation and AAS and talk to us vets that have been around for yrs.

Nelson's right, stop kidding yourself.

I never set goals. (Goals mean you have set a limit on yourself)
I break barriers.

goals are not limits but stepping stones.......goals are meant to be broken. people don't say, my goal is 20lbs and not an oz more. they are just stating they want to reach AT LEAST that 20lb marker, then they reset their goals after breaking previous one.
