Steroid Therapy on 60 Minutes... A Question about the Show

I didn't see it but my dad told me that they were running a story about some doc that subscribes gear and GH to older patients and they were saying how much better they felt. Well some other expert doc on gear said that the down side is that if you had cancer the steroids would accelerate the cancer. Is there any truth in that?>

It is the GH that accelerates tumor growth. Yes, it is possible. I don't think it is a common occurance, but they were saying taht (basicall) if you have undetected cancer cells in your body, that GH "Could" accelerate the growth of those cells. It makes sense, I guess. Gh is also supposed to boost your immune system though, so who knows. It's a risk you take, I guess.

So mainly it is just GH you are taking a chance with not test, eq and var etc right?

Are there any tests which can definitively find undetected cancer cells?

No - you are incorrect - all AAS increase cell size - so if you have cancer cells and take AAS they are gonna grow - period.

So the doc was right huh? I hope I don't have cancer. :D

Life itself is a crapshoot. If you look at disease like it's poison, who's it gonna kill quicker-a 135 lb lean person or a 235 lb lean person? Increasing your lean body mass is a part of HIV therapy for this reason.

I honestly can't see responsible or even semi irresponsible use of AAS/GH being any worse than the avg Joe's lifestyle that revolves around years of social events that include alcohol, tobacco, fast food, and sitting on their asses all day. Add everyday stress and reliance on Rx drugs to combat anxiety, depression, pain, etc and I can only imagine you'll have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel in no time.

Correct. But, from what I gathered, it was the GH that could bring dormant cancer cells into full development. A member here, had said he had been using HRT GH for quite a few years and developed a huge Tumor. He says he still uses test, but it was the GH that had made the tujmor grow so rapidly.

I had never taken GH at age 23 and got a job working for Orkin Pest Control. After 6 months of being around those carcinogenic chemicals I developed a golf ball sized tumor in my foot. One day it wasn't there, and the next day it was. I had it excised and luckily it was benign. My point being, nobody knows what will or won't accelerate the growth of tumors-but you can bet I don't recommend seeking a career in pest control to anyone.
