Starting Over

I amm 44 years old . Been weight training for years....I want to start into Powerlifting. I have a good base because of my training that I have done and from when I played foot ball. I was hoping someone may have a beginner routine that an old man can use....And any advice on training , supplements, anything else that I could use...Thanks in advance

I"m from a situation similar to yours. It's hard to give a good answer w/o knowing how you plan to train, your particular strengths and weaknesses, and so forth. I don't feel I'm qualified to design a program for somone else either. I've got a few links to where you might find some answers, though, until someone else comes along:

A Question Of Strength

While your over at elitefts.com peruse their other articles also. Lot's of useful information. In the T-Mag link section, Dave Tate has written several articles about program design, exercise selection, etc.

Best of luck.

Give us some numbers, i.e. body weight, height, gear or no gear (both types), past injuries or nagging ones and what your looking to hit as far as numbers.

That way you can get better info geared more towards what you want to accomplish... BTW welcome!

Thanks for the welcome. I'm 6'2". I weigh in at 230. I had some knee injuries many years ago playing football, but they have not been a problrm in years. I sometimes have some nagging lower back pain. I shoe horses and my lower back gets fatigued, but my doc says that it is nothing serious. I will use gear (both kinds). I have always had a goal to hit the 500 mark in the bench. I'm weak in the squat. Right now I would be happy to hit a 500 mark on all my lifts. after that, I will see what happens. Not sure if 500 is asking too much, but ya'll can tell me if it is...I am totally novice, so I may ask things out of ignorance. So educate me if you will....Thanks

With your height and weight that shouldn't be too far fetched. The website that host the above articles has a Q/A that tons of guys read daily. Also look at the training logs of lots of those guys and the exercise index.

There is tons of useful information there and it's free to use.
