Starbuck's gouges rescue worker...

Under normal circumstances, I'd agree with you. But come on, the WTC had just been attacked and destroyed, lying in rubble in the middle of NY. The answer is YES, I damn well expect the ambulance, fire truck, cop cars all to get free gas for a day or two.

thats unamerican. the people who help dont pay for it we all do.

Well Heaven forfuckingbid! Guess I should expect that with a handle like yours.

i have an idea. let the gas stations give the workers free gas and keep a record of the gas they give. then they send you the bill for the gas. would you like that? why should their business go down the shitter just because they happen to sell gas? they need the money to live. its not like the firemen and ambulence workers pay for the gas out of their pockets.

Business go down the shitter? For a days worth of gas to relief vehicles in one city in the entire US? My God, what was I thinking. The oil companies would crumble. . . :o

gas stations arent owned by oil companies they are owned by individuals. some own a bunch of stations and some dont. they depend on those stations for their incomes. i dont see how them charging the normal price for gas is going to affect anybody. why should the be forced to bare the extra cost while others dont? we all will bare the cost if they charge the normal price and our tax dollars pay for it. thats fair.

OK, somewhere we went from water to gas, but you're right. I guess I can't expect small station owners to provide free gas. I'll give you that one. Although I think it would be a cool gesture if some of the wealthier chain owners would do it.

Millions of Americans, private individuals and businesses, are donating money, food, time and whatever else in support after what happened. I would think that most good-hearted people, station owners included, would feel compelled to give something as well.

Back to the water. I guess I look at water as a basic need. Yeah, it was probably some pimply-faced kid who didn't have the authority to give out free water. But my guess is that there was some kind of supervisor involved in this who had the final say. Either way, I think there are times to do what you can for your fellow man even though it costs you a few bucks. If a medic coming into a store and asking for water for shock victims isn't one of those times, I don't know what is.
