Squats??

If you can squat, meaning you don't have some sort of injury/handicap preventing you from squatting, then just squat. There is no substitute. Come on my man, the point of a squat isn't to isolate the quads, you know this bro.

By the way....how' bout them Purple Raiders, lol.

I like that machine. I have not used it in a while cause my new gym does not have it but I would rather use that then regular squats cause I have problems doing the regular ones

biggt hits this one on the head again: squats aren't an isolation exercise. There are similar non-machine variations: Safety squat using a safety squat bar and manta ray squat which overemphasizes the high bar squat. Both these allow more stress to be placed on the quads by changing center of gravity and increasing stabilization. You aren't limited by the machine's range of motion.
Of course, they may be useful for acheiving that pump, perhaps done as drop sets... j/k .. but why do them as a mass builder when the machine inactivates so many support groups?

I agree with T, if you have no injury or pain when squatting, then just squat.
Using a machine to help oyu squat is not working the stablizing muscles.

I think you need to re-look at the guy in the pic. His legs look pretty huge to me, but then again he must superset w/ leg press or something like that.......

I say free squats.

If you are squatting only to release testosterone...well, then...

The more basic the squat, the better the results should be. Rotate variations of the squat if you must. Box squats, OLY Squats, Front Squats, Hack Squats, Smith Squats...probably in that order for me. Note that I haven't been so desperate to need Smith Squats in about 13 years.

i use that machine now b/c of my back injury...it's great in that it allows me to go parallel to the floor and and puts 0 stress on my lower back. however when i use to free weight squat my whole legs shook after my sets...on these i just notice a lactic acid build up in my quads no matter how heavy i go...if you can do squats, hack squats and front squats i would do them without question!

why would you care about natural hormone release when you're shooting cyp? :D

agree with Al, those massive tree-trunk legs didn't just build themselves.. I think that guy must be doing some BOSU work on the side and not telling you.

I'm wondering if I did a good morning to pick up the machine on my back and squatted with the machine on my back...what kind of development I might get?
