worry about what YOU are squatting. and how YOU are progressing

who cares about anyone else?

aloha fellow trainers,

got a question. i just started adding legs to my routine, which i should of done a long time ago i know.

my question is i am squatting 130 pds x 8 for 3 sets. i am 5'11' 210 pds. is that good for my height and body weight, or is it way under.

i was just wondering, im not gonna stop at 130, but i was wondering what everyone else is squatting. sorry if i confused anyone. thanks.:newbie:

its not that im worried, its that i wanna know what s a good amount.

a good amount for you is more than what you've done last week, and the week after that, and the week after that

How long have you been squatting? Increase your weight 10lbs per week.

Remember, you have to crawl before you run.

I am not very strong. I have been lifting serious for 14 months. I started with 130lbs x 4 sets x 8 reps. Graduated to 5x5's and now I squat 405x5

My stats:

age: 33
Height: 5-6
Weight: 205
Waist: 34
Thighs: 27
Calves: 16

Though a "good amount" is of course a matter of opinion, a good base level of strength to achieve is being able to squat double your bodyweight. This take most people at least 2 years to achieve. Don't get impatient, just progress consistantly...if you add weight too quickly your form will deteriorate and you will lose reps or injure yourself.
