Squat PR!

Fortes

New member
Well, after another month of long and hard 3X3 conditioning training (that's bench, squat and deadlift 5X5, 3 times a week, 60-70% of your 1RM), today was my first day of peaking.

I have my split as such:

Week 1:

Mon: Squat, Bench, Weighted Dips, Military Press (standing)

Wed: Deadlift, Barbell Rows, Weighted Chins, rear delts/curls

Sat: Repeat Mon.

Week 2:

Mon: Repeat Wed.

Wed: Repeat Sat.

Sat: Repeat Mon.

And so on.

I'm using a 5X5 layout, starting with 80% of my 1RM for each lift (besides dips, chins, rear delts, curls) and adding 5 or 10 pounds every next workout depending on success.

So today, I hit 405 for 4 sets of 5, and then one set of 4, and I was well below paralell. It was a nice feeling! I'd done 3X5 before at that weight, but only to paralell, and not half as easy.

I honestly felt like I could have cranked 9 or 10 difficult reps with it. The only bad part was that it really kicked my ass.

We'll see how Deads go on Wed.

Excellent work!! Looks like you have an old-school-type program going. Sounds like it's working very well. Keep it up!

Watching another make progress is always a nice thing. It makes one push themself harder, to keep up, as long as they have some kind of competitive nature in them.

Thanks so much

You guys are awesome, seriously, thanks for the support. I'll try and make this thread my workout log for the next month, in case y'all are interested.
