Splitting up my Back workout...

hellboy

New member
Does anyone here do their rowing type exercises on one day and their pulldown/chin exercises on a different day? Do you think it would be something worthwhile to try or should I just keep all my back stuff on one day?

Currently I'm doing a 3 day (mwf) split:
Chest/Shoulders, Legs, Back

I'm thinking of switching it to this (mwf):
Chest/Rows, Legs, Shoulders/Pulldowns

My back and especially my lats are a weak area for me. I'd really like to bring them up in strength and size. I'd be interested in all comments good or bad.

Thanks!

What you are suggesting is an Ian King type training regimen. I used to do this and I loved it.

The problem is that I like to do biceps and this routing will overwork them for sure.

With chest do rowing exercises. With shoulders, do vertical or pull-up type exercises. I liked to superset them:

Bench Press/ Bent Row
Low Pully/Incline etc...

The overall upper body pump is awesome. I have some xl spreadsheets of these programs somewhere in my computer. If you want a copy e-mail me.

yes i do exactaly what you describe. i also do this with shoulders/chest. i have a vertical push/pull day and a horizontal push/pull day.

for example vertical push pull
pullups
dips
pulldowns
shoulder press
+1 biceps exercise

horizontal
bent rows
flat bench
seated rows
incline bench
+1 triceps exercise.

i absloutley love this routine it works great and it helps to reduce/correct muscular imbalances. read up on ian king, some of his programs are complicated but very effective.
