Speaking of the January crowd....

Sat I was warming up on squats and I kept hearing this guy in the next rack over talking to himself. I thought maybe he was just a little crazy, psyching himself up (even though he was of course doing curls). Turns out he was on the damn phone - he had on of those little earbud things. Must have been working pretty hard if he could talk while he was lifting...

I once saw a girl squatting with two 5 lb dumbbells...and she was GRUNTING!

Seems like she would've been better off just using a broomstick!

You know, part of me feels guilty finding entertainment in these folks' gaffs...I mean, I was a beginner once, too...though I do not think I was ever quite this silly. At least I had the sense to ask for help and guidance when I needed it (I still do).

True, Wend, true....we were all beginners...so here's a good one about me....

I was walking on the treadmill at the Y & some firetrucks went by so I was watching them while still walking.....Well, I walked right off the treadmill. LOL

Another time walking on the treadmill I dropped my magazine which fell on the belt & it got shot into the weight area. hehehehe

Too funny!

Well, just last workout, I was a little spacey...and I kept walking into the equipment...I knocked myself all over the place, including one smack right in the head. Doh!

At least I managed to gather enough focus for my lifts...I was determined not to drop the squat bar on myself!

I just don't get the guys at the gym, new ones or not so new ones, who lift WAY more than they should be lifting and can't make it through a full range of motion. Then they look around like "check this out-- I'm such a stud". But bad form and partial reps aren't too impressive.

After my wrist surgery I was SO embarassed to be lifting 5 pound db's. I felt like a stereotypical girl. :bawling:

lol...did you want to wear a sign that said "I am recovering from an injury. I normally lift more than this." :)

I actually ended up doing the 5 pound weight training at home to save my ego. ;)

There's a lady at my gym who told me and my old trainer that she does 150-200 reps at every machine. Picture a woman on a leg extension just swinging her legs while counting. That would take a long time, be boring, and pointless.

There's a skinny guy at our gym (NOT a newbie) that does something like that...not quite that many, but all his exercises are done with almost no exertion and sloppy form, like he's just doing a certain number and then he's done. And he never grows. Gee.

LOL, I did the exact thing after my shoulder injury, I was too embarassed to start off with the 10 lb db's so I did it at home until I was at a more acceptable weight.. lol..

Hell, I even feel dumb warming up my rotators with the little weights..
