Sore knee from squat

Hey I squated yesturday and today I woke up with really my knees really sore. I was just wondering if anybody could have known what I was doing wrong to cause that? Thanks for any help.
 
I'd pay attention to not lettign the knees cave in on the way down or up.

I'd play around with toe flare angle.

Maybe widen your stance depending on how tall you are.

Knees going over toes isn't necessarily gonna hurt your knees if you don't bounce in the bottom.
 
I had the same problem, it was because my knees were going over my toes. I had to spend a few months strechin my hamstrings and calves, they were the root of the problem....make sure u r flexible.
Switchin to stiff leg deadlift help me a lot also strengthen my hamstrings....most people have stronger quads than hams, so they tend to use them more and thus hit your knees with wrong form. If you are pushin thru your toes during squat is a bad sign. push thru heels and you know u got it
