they said that about the original......I don't buy it.........I knew not ONE mother fucker that had to send back his original xbox.......and I knew alot of guys that had them cause we went all over the place for Halotestin - fluoxymesterone - tournaments. Not the new one I can't vouch for, I only 3 guys that have one........and none of them have had "one" singular problem.............I think it's Sony marketing putting out there that the 360 has similiar problems, like it's the norm or something. Truth is only Sony has these fantastical breakdowns with their machines that at first thought would seem inconceivable. Now I don't know a single person who owns a PS3.........but I knew 5 dudes that had to send their PS2's back because of that retarded disc tray warping that made the DVD laser start scoring perfect circles into your games..........and of course they had to send the machine back with a check for $299......ridiculous, I will never do business with that company again and I know many others that feel me. I know the 360 had core issues with their first flights.......it is a triple core processor, but last I heard that was "fixed"!! And of course microsoft takes the system back and fixes it or gives you a new fucking machine free of charge........I mean fuck, you just spent $400. I pity the saps that bought a POS 3 first flight..........what, $700??? you gotta be kidding me..........and blu ray can suck my ballz.

I actually think its more than 30 %, I haven't had any problems with mine yet but almost everybody I know who has one has had to send it in for repairs.

Those new game systems cost over $500?! Crap, that's a lot for a friggin' video game system.

Last system I had was SNES. FFIII >>> any crap they release nowadays.

:cow:

my sentiments exactly. . .$500 is hardly a bargain. . .dell basically gives computers away for free at this point and i use mine to make a pretty damn nice living every year. . .no way in hell i'm spendin' $500 on some friggin machine that i'm not gonna use cause i'm to busy makin' money. . .

I got my xbox360 one month after launch. It lasted 1 year and 6 months before receiving the ring of death.

I sent it on a couple weeks ago. I complained plus made an account on xbox.com bashing Microsoft every chance I got. lol. I was almost ready to buy a PS3 and forget Microsoft, but then they announced the free repair & reimbursement of those who already paid for "ring of death" repairs.

Props to M$ for stepping up and fixing THEIR mistake unstead of continuing to lie to us saying only a small percentage of consoles are failing.

I'm glad I didn't have to resort to buying a PS3. They simply have no games for their system. The few they do have are available on the 360 with better graphics and twice the frames per second, not to mention the better controller and cheaper console of the 360.

I'm happy I kept my PS3 after seeing Sony's e3 conference this year, most notably the Killzone 2 footage that is actual gameplay this time around, and still in pre alpha stage to boot. Actually they had a lot of good showings this year of games that will be here starting the end of this quarter; not to mention some exclusives over Microsoft this year, ie Unreal Tournament 3, surprisingly enough.
Halo 3 also looked good though and you have to give MS props for their warranty extension, even if it's must seem expected by the many who are on their 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th 360 console, and most likely a refurbished (already broken) one until now. And MS is still on schedule to release their 65nm chips in new models this fall (with a possible price drop) so maybe my Halo 3 preorder will still come to fulfillment.

A couple of other things- take a look at any gaming message board site (gamespot.com/forums, ign.com, etc) and you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere near the amount of complaints (if any) about the PS3 hardware compared to the Xbox 360. Hell, gamespot.com has a page stickied specifically for 360 hadware failures with replies numbering in the thousands. Microsoft apparently took a big step backward in the hardware dept. from their previous console, while Sony took a big step forward with their's. Although even then I'd never heard of anyone I knew having a problem with the PS2, myself included.
Also, people like to cite that there's no good games for the PS3.......uh....like there was anything even close to Resistance: FoM in the 360's launch lineup, or the entire year following it until Gears of War showed up (or maybe a little sooner if you want to count Dead Rising). The PS3 will have as many if not more AAA titles available in its first year than the Xbox 360 will have in its first two.

Install the right OS and a PS3 can perform well beyond anything Dell gives away (albeit perhaps not in as practical a sense). Although I did opt to repair/upgrade my Dimension for mere peanuts compared to what a "good" PC /Mac Powerbook would cost. In the end, the "Playstation" platform is still aptly named. Remember the lesson "The Shining" taught us: "All work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy.

No offense of course to Dullboy of EF fame, if he's still around.

it's not really that much samoth my good man, at least for the PS3 considering it has blueray capabilities and a blueray player in itself is like upwards of a thousand dollars, so it's actually pretty cheap if you consider that.

though who knows if blueray is even going to catch on, it's not looking like it at the moment.
