I had a 1989 raleigh full alum 10 speed sport race bike, I rhode it to the gym and as I left some guy offered my 300$ for it and wanted to ride it . I told him I was not interested in selling it. He pretty much begged me I said no. I had just spent 250$ on new tires, new bearings in the wheels, new brake lines with pads, new gear lines, had the alum parts that were exposed high speed polished, drive gear taken apart bearings replaces, new chain .The bike pretty much looked like new not even a scratch.
I have no idea what it costed I recieved it as a gift almost 20 years ago
I come out of the gym my lock in chain has been cut and my bike is gone
WTF?
It was very light , I could literally pick it up with 2 fingers
eazy to hual around being the wheels, handle bars and seat all had quick release levers and came right off. I could travel to parks and stuff with it in the back seat then put it together when I got where I was going.( That has been awhile but still knowing if i wanted to travel with it i still could )
Shit sucks I only rhode the bike becuase it was nice weather outside the last few days here in florida. Any other time it would be hanging up in the storage shed out back.
Any advice on a light weight alum bike at a reasonable cost . I mean everything was alum brakes, handle bars, pedals, wheels .
have not had to do any bike shopping before i am sure things have changed in 20 years.
