LOL...if you say so. It isn't like I know what the hell I'm talking about. I have only seen the little newborns on the baby story shows, and they looked like little white babies. I guess it takes a few weeks or a month for them to look darker?

I made more than 90% of the associates at a law firm that ranks in the top 10, for the 4 years I worked there.

As for her making more money than the guy... ask Turd Ferguson how that worked out for him. His wife makes more and they have 50/50 custody and he still pays her.

LOL. What kind of law do you do? My brother graduates in January and he got offered a job (if I say this wrong, sorry - lawyer crap is not my forte) where he would prosecute teens (high school mainly) who should be kicked out of schools here in Chicago. So the all the deviant ones, I guess.. I think that's what he said but I have to get more clear on that.

I think that would be cool - there are some rude ass kids in high schools that don't belong there... lol. But as he said, he's not sure if he wants to - it means he'd be working in some bad areas and well, a judge was just killed here not too long ago because her decision pissed someone off.

Well, right now I'm working from home drafting foreclosure pleadings for a lawyer friend. When he builds a new office, I will be doing more of the same -- foreclosing on delinquent property taxes.

I have done lots of things -- bankruptcy, criminal defense, family law, etc.

Prosecuting the juveniles will be a stepping stone. They will move him out of that after a year or two into adults, I bet. Lots of big city prosecutor offices begin new graduates in juvenile or in domestic violence.

Sounds scary to me because when you work with minorities and what not, and you anger them if you prosecute their friends, kids, etc, you never know what they will do...

Judge Lefko (I think) was a really resptected appellate court judge and she decided against a case and the man ended up finding where she lived and killed her husband and mother. Not fun.

I have a friend that is a bankruptcy judge and she has been followed, etc. These people FILE bankruptcy themselves and then for some reason are mad at the judge about it. That perplexes me.

Believe it or not, being a divorce attorney is WAY more dangerous than being a prosecutor. Get an emotional abusive man as the opposing party and watch how CRAZY they get. It can be scary. Luckily, that never happened to me. One guy called me a home wrecker because his wife came to me for a divorce. That is about it. :whatever:

Yeah - it all sounds dangerous. But then again, I think what I want to do in the future can at times, be dangerous as well. I want to work with the mentally ill (partially) and also do some criminal where I would be called in to testify and state whether or not a certain person has a mental illness or not, etc. So who knows... there are some very emotionally twisted people that go for therapy.

yes, when I was in High School, I volunteered at a school for the mentally handicapped. Most were extremely affectionate, but I would learn which ones I had to be careful about. They had limited impulse control, and when some of the boys were well into puberty their anger or sex drive was not well controlled. I guess it is similar with patients with mental illness. Some things they just can't control.

Yes, you definitely have to know the population well. That is why I am very happy that the graduate school I will be attending places you in an internship where you want to concentrate your second year (and there are 5 years). So you work on your research for 4 years if not more. That was the one thing my brother said he didn't like... his Law School (John Marsall Law downtown here) didn't require anyone to do an internship. For me, it's a must do or you will never graduate.

That's why I am so excited to go for clinical psychology because the Doctorate is going to give me very in depth training (but of course, nothing beats years of experience as many psychologists have told me).

Yeah, law school teaches you to THINK like a lawyer. It doesn't exactly teach you the law in your particular state, how to draft a motion, how to get or maintain clients. Basically, law school completely dismisses the practical for esoteric theory.

Yeah - that's one thing he was saying. We had a lawyer come in who travels around and speaks to law students and college students about law and all that and that was one thing he mentioned. That law school prepares you academically but then throws you out to the sharks once you graduate. I thought I heard him say they are teaching the Socratic method? But maybe I'm wrong.. I'm not certain.

What I found very silly was the whole Bar Exam nonsense. I read Wisconsin was the only state that doesn't require you to take the bar exam (if you go to law school there). So my bro gradutes in January, but if he wanted to practice in FL, he'd have to take their bar exam and technically, he is not considered a Lawyer if he leaves IL. I'm thankful that's not my case. Once I'm a Dr., it doesn't matter where I travel because it stays that way. Funny how a national committee writes the bar exam but there's nothing national about it. Where did you go to school (state wise?).

I went to school in Kentucky and am licensed in Kentucky. What he is telling you is SO TRUE. Being a lawyer is somewhat a big pain in the ass. If I had it to do over, i would definitely go to med school, instead.

So funny - many people who have gone to law school have said that. That if they were to do it over again they wouldn't have. But, there is nothing wrong with being a lawyer. It's still a great jog and a great degree. I just think that the schools are a bit twisted but hopefully, that will slowly change.
