Do you think that because the country was attacked everybody who lives in it will change? I wuold love to see that happen, but reality is much different from our thoughts.

Of course 9/11 is irrelevant to this sort of stupidity. The suggestion that I attempted to make, albeit poorly, was that perhaps there wasn't much of a change at all. That many (most?) people wanted to believe, culturally speaking, the US could be forever altered to such a significant degree was abusrd at worst and overly hopeful at best. Not that I lack complete faith in my fellow citizens, because I have significantly more faith than I once had. But there's a reason this is news again. Ever wonder what happened to pit bull attacks? Did those stop happening? Of course not ... but those stories are page 30 and below the fold now. We have, at least when it comes to consuming information, moved beyond the great stories that were relevant to 9/11 and resumed "normal" sooner and to greater degreee than may have been expected.
