So I Went To The Docs....

I currently don't have insurance as I am fully self-employed but I had to bite the bullet and go to the docs because I have been nonstop coughing up phlegm due to allergies and apparently bronchitis. After doctor visit and Scripts it cost me $700, the only thing I got out of it was (besides hopefully getting better) some of that Tussionex Hydrocodone Cough Medicine.

Cue Pudz...(why? oh I dont know...its a drug)

That is all...

Yeah, needless to say, training and diet have been off for a couple days, Im looking forward to being able to breathe, eat, and sleep again. $700 though, got damn! I cried a little inside lol

Jesus bor, Ive been self employed and/or a college student for the last 6 years and Ive got insurance through BCBS, premium is $140/month, with drug plan. Go to their website dude. I dont understand why people dont think they can have health insurance just because they are self employed.

Oh dont get me wrong, I was working a full time day job, I just recently left that job and Im working self employed now. My insurance coverage just dropped about a month and a half ago and I haven't made a choice yet because I was waiting to hear back info form several different local choices. I know I could have coverage, the timing of me getting sick just BLOWS! Thanks for the info though :-)

The doc office got audited so they had to charge me full price for the visit: $124

Chest X-Ray: $100+
Lab Tech:$
Nebulizer Steroid Treatment: $120
Pregnosone (sp): $$

I dunno all in all the doc office cost me: $450
Scripts: (antibiotic, steroid, inhaler, hydrocodone cough med) $200.

Ok so $650 total, I over estimated while writing the thread.

You have NO IDEA how bad my last 8 days or so have been. I tried every OTC remedy I could think of and find online along with all the normal OTC meds...Its been REAL bad in this are for Allergies, they said highest levels in history. I didnt have allergies till about 3 years ago...sucks hard!

I have BCBS and when I get sick I usually go to a walk-in clinic (that doesn't accept insurance) because I don't need an appointment.

It cost me $65 out of pocket ... and my ngr usually hooks me up with xannies too :)

Yeah the people at the place I go to used to change the cost of my visit to $60, normally got xrays and in house treatment for free or next to nothing...Apparently they got Audited and they lost their freedom to changes prices a few months ago. Its a walk in place. Bad luck for me...

Yeah its not life and death, its just REALLY tiring, with the lack of sleep and constant coughing, but these meds normally help, just sucks I diagnose myself and have no need for the docs, but they gotta get their part BLAH

Thanks for the "get betters" ;)

oh yeah I've had bronchitis before it really sucks...i know what you're going through. my mom used to make me have chicken noodle soup with cayenne pepper in it to clear my airway out...
when you cough so much your stomach and head hurt and you can't sleep, you really need the cough syrup to knock you out at night :)

Yeah i was taking benadryl and zyrtex, also Delsym, no help. No I have like 5 scripts incliding hydrocodone cough meds...I am no longer coughing, real dried out though and I have to take the antibiotics and steroids for 10days I think. Oh well...

must've been pretty bad if they chest xrayed and neb-ed ya...

get better bor
and enjoy your codiene induced sleep...lol

Hydrocodone and Oxycodone tend to keep me up and pretty buzzed for a little while before sleep, Im forcing myself to stay up a while long to get my sleep schedule back to being able to sleep before the sun comes up. Im hitting the 24 hour mark here real soon.

My peak-flow meter test when I got to the docs was like 300, it was 480 when I left. Im real worn out but starting to feel a little better already, just real dried out. A couple days of meds and hopefully Im back to near 100% and I can get back to eating and training and basketball.

its good you're startin to feel better...you really need sleep though at this point pry more than anything

Yeah Ill pass out by 10 or 11pm just to try to get me back close to my regular sleep schedule, dont want to pass out too early and wake up at 3am not able to sleep again.

Wow, that is really high, I prefer to go to the quick med stops just for this reason.

Most people don't realize that arcane Medicare rules prevent doctors from cutting people price breaks on services.

Yeah they used to be real cool and most treatments wouldnt appear on invoice, the visit was knocked down to $60 instead of $144, but apparently they got in some shit...Oh well, it is what it is this time, I needed these meds or I was contemplating suicide, but i realized that would make you all too happy, so I need to hang around to annoy you :-)

How much can a glove and some lube possibly cost?

We're talking about real doctors here.

Hint: If the guy is wearing a pink spandex body suit and is wielding a dildo in each hand, he's not really taking your temperature.
