So I purchased a new printer for my computer tonight...

... and the damn thing doesn't even use black ink.

I don't want a scanner, fax machine, or memory card reader all-in-one goddammit, either... just a printer. Guess they don't make those anymore.

:cow:

Yeah, mine has a zillion ports to put in things I don't even have. Oh look, I think a grilled cheese sandwich is supposed to go in this slot, and this one, I think, plays beta video tapes. Hey, is that for an 8-track?

the no black ink thing is a scam! you use 3 times more printing black and white stuff

samote = really smart sucker

The guy at Office Max TOLD us it had black! If we knew it didn't have black, we wouldn't have bought it.

whats the model number?

Cannon PIXMA iP6310D.

I'm definitely taking it back... I just thought it odd how they don't make sole printers anymore, and even wierder that we opened this box and it had "color ink" and "photo color ink"... and that's it, lol. (They don't seem to make non-photo printers anymore, either.)

multi-function printers are usually kinda shitty unfortunately. Each things gets compromised so they can add more features.

Printer ink is worth more in weight than gold.

I had that printer, worked alright. Would not grab paper well, sometimes it'd grab a bunch, other times it would think it was out when it really wasnt. Scanner and copier were super convenient though. Ink cartridges - always a ripoff. That one comes with an 18x DVD writer - which is cool.

This one looks really good:

ink cartridges are nice and cheap.

not too bad looking.

The damned Epson's have so little ink, and the packages don't list how many mL you get (unlike Cannon's).

I just want a printer made for printing, not some multi-crap that just takes the quality away from the printing part of the printer, ya know?

:cow:

Cons: - Two ink tanks, both of which are color. Why no black tank? - I'm still using a different printer (Canon IP3000) for document printing. Standard document print quality is not very good. - A little large.

lol

I hate composing on the computer and prefer writing (0.3mm HB or H lead, Pentel PMG/Mechanica with a soft clutch, circa 1980) pretty much anything, but unfortunetly, some profs want things done on the computer for whatever reason. And MathType looks much better than my microscopic writing and shorthand unreadable by anyone else, lol.

this is the one I use:

I got a GG 500, but found all the Graph Gears to be Americanized; that is, with oversized grips (which I hate, I stick to old Staedtlers or Pentel Japan issues). The harder-to-find Graph 1000 series is much more practical, although I always prefer a nice Koh-I-Noor flesh eating grip.

I saw some funky Japanese-brand completely adjustable clutch, sleeve, lead, and more once, but it was, like, $50+ and only available overseas. I'd rather hold out and find an old 0.2mm Pentel, lol.

Hell, I figure I spend most of my time with pen in hand, so to speak, so I might as well make the most of it, lol. Having the grip of a Texas power bar doesn't hurt, either.

I almost got a #2 COC gripper shut the other day. No previous training.
