so I joined a Satanist forum today

It is Anton Lavey's grandson's site.

I am not a satanist, nor want to be one (I don't believe in any form of organized religion) but there are a lot of like minded individuals over there as far as my views on life and the world go. It's basically a C&C full of people with lots of sarcasm and macabre wit, I dig it.

I'm not going to post the link because
1) I'm not trying to promote the site or drive people away from EF
2) people like curling might register just to talk shit
3)some people might go over there and stupid the sight up.

hey it's not unusual. Everyone has different beliefs. No one can say their beliefs are the right ones. None of us have died and come back and KNOW for sure what awaits us. What do we have? a bunch of different ideas of what MIGHT await us or how we ever got here, but there is no solid 100% proof or explanation.

i don't support satanists, but i say if you truly agree with some stuff you're reading on and agree, read up and look into it for sure :beer:

I never bother to change my avatar here anymore. I resize images to 150x150 for other boards to use as my avatar and never feel like resizing it yet again to 100x100 to use here.
 
Apparently theres distress in the church between old schoolers and the new generation. LOL, who knew they had these sorts of petty issues whithin the church of satan.

and I find it funny that they try to think they are when really they are just groupies to some deviant stylized genre'

if you only knew the pure dark horror of a true black soul you would cringe and the reality of it and run for home you fucking poser

also things like Rotten W would run for the hills when presented at a true Beast with fangs on your throat, but yet you swim in a pool searching for it as if it were something to seek

its humerous to us, the horror is great for those that deserve it

Another thing from what I have heard about Satanist they are selfish crappy people for the most part. All they care about is making themselves happy. Just me me me.

My point was he was a drama queen that invented everything about himself, an entire history....origin, ethnicity, jobs, even his name. Whadda gayfer.

I don't know anything about him, well not much atleast, and have just started to learn/read a bit about politics in whithin the CoS. Lots of soap opera shit going on, kind of silly. I really don't care though since I'm not there looking for enlightenment, since I already am.

Anton wrote some cool books, had a great sence of literary wit and I happen to live by a lot of the same philosophies, mostly common sence, but I don't understand how and why they worship the man. As a matter of fact I see it contradictory to what he first set out to do with the CoS.

Howard Levy was the keyboard and harmonica player for Bela Fleck & the Flecktones. He's one of the most profoundly talented musicians I've ever met.

TONS of soap opera shit. So much so that the Church's site denounced all the forums.

regarding, LeVey, consider this: why would a person fabricate an entire history about himself? My answer, to make himself seem more impressive and interesting which = super fucking lame to me. I totally lost any interest in him when I found out how he had basically completely BSed the entire first 30 years of his life.

It doesn't bother me since I never held him up to be anything more than a mere mortal man, just like you and me. He had to find a way to sell himself and his talents, many writers and entertainers do the same, that's all he is/was to me.

I worship him no more that I worship other great writers and literaries like Twain, Kafka, or Nietzsche

I don't have to worry about hell because once your his the devil can't not take you away. Now he can lead you astray so you won't have your credibility to nonbelievers but he can not take your soul. But you have a point I do need to do more for others.

Yea his first book was pretty interesting then I went on to read Satanic Rituals and all the claims about not worshipping Satan in the Satanic Bible just flew out the window since Satanic Rituals was all about calling and hailing Satan.

I also remember that Lavey had a major falling out with one of his main priests about allowing hte public to view ceremonies. His partner wanted it to remain closed to the public but Lavey wanted the CoS to become more mainstream where I think it didn't belong. I can't remember the guys name but I think he still has a fairly large following in another sect.

Even though the people do in fact seem pretty intelligent, it has always seemed quite hypocratic and almost appear like goth kids where they denounce conformity yet they are just conforming to another set of standards.

Regarding "goth" kids, most have absolutely no idea whatsoever what that actually means. Your dress and accoutrements are incidental and merely reflective of a philosophy, but those dufuses think it means paint your nails black and look menacing. I was what they called a Pink Goth, which referred to the fact that I, like a few others, preferred warm tones. The very existence of that label was in itself a reflection of people's focus on the material, which is again antithetical to actual Goth philosophy.

Which takes me back to Howard Levey, aka "Anton (cue creepy organ music!) LaVey". Yes he did have some interesting things to say, but he was also a poser, which is completely antithetical to preaching philosophy. Entertainers can pose, athletes can pose, but the VERY last thing you need to be doing is pose if you're claiming to be bringing truth and enlightenment.
