just a quick background, im 5'11", 210lb, 18% bf...for months now, ive been getting my protein from foods, and now i just bought a jar of whey concentrate and powdered sugar (i read in one of the threads it's dextrose)...im planning on using these mostly post workout so i wont lose any muscle....i know i have to use a 2:1 ratio, but i dont know how many grams of each i need to use...
thanx for your help guys!

it's 600 calories. if you're overshooting your calories by too much because of the shake, then you'll add fat.

word has it (at least for now) that the dextrose in post-workout shakes won't be stored as fat because your muscles are depleted of glycogen. simple carbs are the fastest way to not only replete your muscles but also to shuttle the protein to where it needs to go.

hope that helps.

if i use that kind of ratio, will there be any fat gain?

I seriously doubt that you will gain fat from these calories. If you consume this after a grueling work-out it will be utilized properly.

is dextrose really important to have?

is eating carbs almost same as eating all this dextrose except that carbs need to be converted into glycogen

yeah I am wondering the same thing. I mean I am not a pro body builder, and I am not looking for instant remarkeable gains or anything like that. I just don't want to not use dextrose and then seriously miss out and like never gain a pound. Can you just eat plain baked potatoes instead? Also I have taken dextrose for last couple days post workout and I have noticed some acne coming out and before this I had not seen any since I started eating healthy 2 months ago.

100g's dextrose??!?!?!?!? damn...
if you're dieting to lose fat (and preserve muscle) i'd say up to 30g's of dextrose postworkout will be sufficient - the goal here is to force the body to cease cortisol secretion resulting from training, and dextrose is good because it is metabolized quickly spiking insulin - a small insulin spike is exactly what you need, and that's what you will get from small amount of sugar/dex. I personally wouldn't use 100g's of dex even if I was bulking, there are better ways to replete muscle glycogen if that's what you're trying to achieve..
