The warlord in Somalia, (blackhawk down) it mentioned in the movie that he was killed 2 months after we were in Somalia....anyone know if we (CIA?) were responsible for the assasination?

Maybe

Maybe not

Maybe yes!

Maybe you know

Weird the general retired just after Adid was killed too :D

I believe he was killed by a rival warlord. His son, who lived in California, moved back to Somalia to take his place. Can anyone explain to me what in the fuck his son was doing living in America?

Don't all foreigners live in America? ;)

Besides, who would want to live in Somalia?

He died of natural causes. His son took over.

His son was a Marine and actually was sent to Somalia as an interpreter.

Someone please explain something about that Blackhawk movie...

When the lynch mobs were closing in on the crash site there were NATO helicopters flying overhead, why didn't they start shooting from the choppers? Why did they jump out and fight on the ground? I confess that I don't know anything about warfare but it would have seemed easier to shoot them from the air.

The 2 delta snipers, Gordon and Shugart basically realized that they were not going to be very effective in holding off the mob from the air with single shot sniper rifles, so they went in to set up a perimiter around the crash site to help protect the wounded... It was incredibly brave and I admit I dont fully understand it myself but I wouldnt expect to because I have never been where they have been... I am glad both of them were awarded the Medal of Honor

Unfortunately the chopper had no Minigun onboard otherwise it would have been a different story :)

Like the chopper mowing the people down on the roof.

I just watched it for the first time today. Going to have to watch it a couple of more times to really experience it better. Good movie, IMO. Looked like a smooth operation until Blackburn fell out of the chopper and the first Blackhawk got shot down.

You have to respect those guys and what they actually had to do to survive those 18-22 hours they were shut off from the others. Very moving to say the least.

I am glad also that Gordon and Shugart were awarded the Medal of Honor. Seems like more of them should have deserved it.

Humorme- watch it a few more times ...i did. it helps put the whole story together. The book is good too.

Lotta respect outta me for those fellas. I only hope I would act the way they did under those circumstances.

I am going to do that this week. The wife and kids just left for the beach for a week and left me at home with a "honey do" list a mile long! :FRlol:

I might even get the book. Probably would answer any questions I might have.

Respect from me too! Especially those guys who were there from the start and made their way back to the base and then returned to get the others out. Takes a tremendous amount of courage to do that!

I've watched it at least 6 times all the way through and quite a bit on different chapters....
