Sleep...?

DZLS

New member
I know the reccomended number of hours is 8...

I've started a new routine, where i sleep 6 hours, then have to get up early to hit the gym, come home drink my CEE, get a shower, drink a protein shake, and go back to bed for about 1.5-2 hours...

then have a protein / carb filled breakfast upon waking...

the reason for this split is i have to be in and out of the gym before my wife leaves for work, cause the new gym has no day care...

anyone else ever try something like this...? it almost seem like this might not be too bad, asi can get some recovery right away after the workouts, but am not sure how the loss of 2 hours during the night is going to affect me...

I'm amazed that you can get back to sleep after being up and doing a work out! Also, why do you take your CEE after your work out instead of before?

I think you'll have to be the judge of whether you're getting enough sleep. If you're tired and fatigued and your body doesn't seem to be recovering quickly enough between work outs, then you may need to tweak your sleep/work out routine.

I think everyone has different sleep requirements, but the eight hours is a good rule of thumb.

yes, i do have a job... i work 2nd shift, and my wife works dayshift, so i watch our son during the day until i go to work...

the CellMass calls for taking it post workout, and once 6-8 hours afterwards... that's why i take it after...

i wasn't really able to get back to sleep today, just kinda rested... we'll see what happens tomorrow...

i really want to stay at this new gym, and this is the only way i can do it, as they have no daycare like the other gym does...

Well, give it at least a couple of weeks before you make a permanent decision. It will probably take you a while to get used to the new sleeping routine. If you have at least one day per week when you can sleep in and catch up, I bet you can make it work.

That's interesting on your CEE -- I have used the PureCEE and they recommend taking it right before. I'm no expert on the matter, so I won't pass any judgement.

A few years ago I had a sleep schedule like that. My gym was so busy after work that I would go home and sleep for like 2-3 hours and them work out late at night, go home eat then sleep 5-6 hours before work. I had the best gains of my life while using that schedule. My life is too messed up now to keep any regular thing going.

I used to work from 05:30 - 11:30 and then from 16:00-20:30 I would workout and nap in-between, five days a week, and it was extremely effective. I would never have trouble falling asleep and I would almost feel anabolic when I woke up at 15:30 to go back to work.

The 2 hour nap one hour after a workout worked really well for me!

you might make okay gains, as sleep is NOT essential to the muscle-building process (unless you get sick; depressed immune system is an effect of sleep deprivation)

but I can tell you: you will feel like shit.

You can't significantly interrupt REM sleep like that to workout, and then expect to fall directly back into it. There's a certain point where once you're up, you're up.

I got 6-7 hours in one go 22:30-05:00 and then 2 hours in the afternoon. Felt great, made good gains and did not have trouble getting to sleep or waking up. If I was to sleep 9 hours straight, that would be 9 hours without any nutrition going in - something to consider.
