Had a bunch of labs done and I'm good in everything except Vitamin D, seems I have a deficiency, hubby had it too but his was more severe... I guess I need more sun and supplements, I told the Dr I have problems sustaining attention and not being able to stay still even if I'm tired and he told me I possibly have sleep apnea and will look into that first.... he just dismissed me... pretty sure I have ADHD but need sleep studies first, has anyone here ever had one? do you know how much they are? I dont think my insurance covers that in particular.

I'm pretty sure you don't have sleep apnea or ADHD. You're just fucked in the head a little.
that too LOL but in all seriousness my hubby says I snore like a truck, stop breathing, gasp and twitch for air and such, sister confirms I've been like this since I'm a child, also no matter how many hours I sleep I never feel rested :(

That was his way of telling you that you're too fat for amphetamines.

I've broken my nose 3 times and I can barely breathe out of it. I snore loud enough to make the neighbors run and hide under their lowriders.

I've had surgery for my deviated septum and adenoid tissue removed twice, same shit... I dont breath much through my nose either

It's sad because it's true :( my snoring has gotten worse with my fattyness :(

sleep studies are expensive around 2k

Go see a psych if you think you have ADHD and try Vyvanse. Vyvanse will take care of any xtra weight too. If that does not help you then go down the sleep study route. Just my opinion, start cheap. :)

everybody fucking wants speed.
LOL I dont want speed, I just want to be able to focus and stay still, this weekend I got off my second job and had slept like 6 hours in a 48 hour period and was tired as fuck yet couldnt stop moving and walking around a room instead of sitting still, or if I have to do something I start doing a million other things and get derailed, or when I'm studying/reading I have to concentrate extra hard and sometimes read the same line twice, and I also forget phone numbers in a matter of seconds despite how many times I repeat it out loud.... I've tried brain teasers, memory stimulanting activities and more and I still cant overcome this, it's very frustrating not to be able to control myself :( I actually hate taking pills, wont even take them for headaches if they are tolerable, but I just dont know what to do with this attention and hyperactivity issue...

Oh I called my healthcare company to see how much I'd have to pay out of pocket for the sleep study and they said it's 100% covered for being diagnostic towards apnea, YaY!!!! I'm going on Wednesday, creeps me out to sleep outside of my own house.... I have no idea what they are going to do to me, I'm sure I will sleep since I do within 20 minutes of going to bed...

you can't concentrate on simple tasks, yet were able to type out that long ass post...

:faint:

LOL couple of fuckers... I have a ton of excuses as to why I havent worked out(the weather, the two jobs, family here for almost 2 months, etc), but at the end of the day they are all just excuses, I still lack discipline and motivation... I worked out 2 days ago and everything fucking hurts... I am eating better though, dropped 3 pounds this week, hopefully changes are coming my way soon with the hubby having more energy and us working out together, we really need motivation, and no me being fat hasnt been motivation enough :worried:

I remember that. I was following her log. I think it sprinkled one day and she called off the entire routine.
I was swimming quite nicely but then the dogs took over the porch and it's all gross, we bought some chain link and hope to finish fencing the yard in the next couple of weekends so we can kick their ass out and reclaim our pool and deck, fence is 70% done.

look at me, my life is full of problems

I've never heard of Melbourne, FL, so I decided to google it. You live right between Palm Beach and Cape Canaveral, right on the ocean - and you don't do any sort of jogging on the beach? I can spit in the ocean from my house, so I know there's dozens of athletic things you can do at the beach.

takes about 20 minute drive to get to the beach, drive being the key word here....

I have to go tonight.... 830p.m. to 6:30a.m. I'm so fucking anxious.... and pissed that I have to get up so early lol

I hope you get better Nan. My sleep is horrible too, but I attribute that to my late sleeping schedule. Too many interesting things to read.

Results are in..... Severe sleep apnea :s they said I stopped breathing an average of 46 times per hour :(
I need a mask to sleep, I asked if I could lose weight to correct it and they said no, said it would slightly help but my weight isnt the issue... fuck.... gotta go back tonight and do it again but with masks FML....

You will probably lose weight as a result of being treated however

Yes sleep mixed with proper diet, and exercise and it will happen, start a new log here nan and get back to that shit, lots of good people here to motivate you, maybe the extra sleep will give you a little more energy to get it done!

It's more than that..sleep apnea is incredibly disruptive to hormones (Cortisol etc).some weight will likely come off just from REM sleep and restored metabolic function. The rest will wind up being easier than it has been.
Or at least that's the theory.
Not to diminish diet and exercise of course.

That sounds pretty awesome, I sure hope so, at the very least I hope to have some actual energy to work out more, I am eating clean M-F all we eat is boneless skinless chicken breast and broccoli, except today, I made a roast :D

Just called back with some follow up questions and they told me it was obstructive and not central, I know I have a deviated septum, that could be a cause..... I already had surgery for it when I was 14 but it didn't do jack....

that's apnea hun, and it will eventually kill you.....fucks with your heart. And how do you not get enough sun in south america?

The price of vyvanse is fuckin outrageous!!! All it is is a times released adderall! I take adderall (generic) and save about $60 month compared to vyvanse

I pay 15 bucks for my Vyvanse. I would rather take adderal but I can't get it anywhere. Can barely get Vyvanse filled.

Wow!! I tried V first and it was $75 a month script! Told my dr I wasn't about to drop that much per month so he switched it to adderall and I pay $12 a month for that

How much do u pay for this sleep study?

Its fully covered by my insurance as a diahnostic test, I made sure to pick the higher deductable 100% coverage plan instead of low deductable 80%, saved my ass on hubbys operation thx to that

That's partially true, but it's the consolidation of the sleep allowing you to achieve continuous sleep and get to slow wave sleep, not REM that is more physically restorative. You can think of it this way, to get to the restful restorative stage of sleep that is more physically beneficial you have to stay asleep so your body can in a sense wind down to it. If you're waking up from things like snoring, snorting, gasping, stopping breathing, or breathing poorly (the last two are counted the same) you dont get the restful restorative sleep where GH is released. Additionally, add in the physiological response to apneic events, you have basically small adrenaline releases every time you dont breathe well that allows your heart to beat harder and faster to catch back up after you havent been breathing. The metabolic stress from those responses causes a lot of cortisol release as well as putting hormones like Leptin and Ghrelin out of the normal range as well.

Weight loss with untreated OSA is incredibly difficult. A good percentage of patients lose weight just by sleeping better after being treated with positive airway pressure, but having more energy and more efficient rest from your sleep being consolidated will help out immensely as well. Some peoples AHI (apnea hypopnea index) falls below a clinically significant level after weight loss but it's not always the case, and there's a lot less correlation between apnea severity and obesity than previously thought.

schooled! circle gets the square

Well I went back and they showed me a bunch of uncomfortable looking masks... I wanted the one that covered nose and mouth since I'm a mouth breather due to the deviated septum but I started with a simple little nose tube thingy and that one did the trick, I slept for 4 hours without any breathing interruption, then I woke up and it took me like 10-20 min to go back to sleep just fine, and I must say I do feel significantly better today, less sluggishness and a bit more energy! I hate the idea of the machine and mask but I cant wait to feel better :)

Wouldn't weed be cheaper?

yes i had one in 2005. they put me in a room and put those suction cups on my head with wires attached to them. i needed to know why i had insomnia but the test was inconclusive because i didnt fall asleep (which was what i tried telling my doctor). eventually they gave me a script of ambien and ive been on and off it for years. my insurance covered it so i couldnt say what the cost would be. i think i have sleep apnea as well because i have breathing trouble when i sleep on my side but now i dont have insurance to get a study done and am worried.

Never understood how people can sleep with that stuff on their face.....

I seriously doubt you have sleep apnoea........sounds like a fisher price diagnosis to me......

Nan's husband has the jimmy legs. they're gonna get separate twin beds so she can sleep better at night.

4 people I know can confirm I stop breathing while I sleep since I'm a child so I'm pretty sure I have it, hell I wake myself up gasping for air, it was easy to fall asleep with all that shit attached because I'm always tired/sleepy :worried:

I hear you nan, but I doubt you fit the profile for OSA....unless you're obese which I'm sure you're not....

Then again.....what you describe does seem to prove me wrong.....

the two strongest descriptions come from my sister who has told me as a kid (I was very skinny as a kid) I would snore loudly (deviated septum) and then all of a sudden stop, says sometimes she'd freak out and walk towards me and put her hand under my nose to make sure I was breathing, and hubby says I all of a sudden I stop snoring and then seconds later kick my legs and gasp for air :(

Geeze, that sounds scary. That's gotta take a toll on you after a while.
