SLDL Question

should stiff leg deads be felt in thew back? i did them today following squats and by my last set my lower back was soar. could that be caused by to much back strain from squat the stiff leg mix. or does that usually come more from losing form. and does anyone know where i cn get a good movie of a sldl to be sure i was doing them right?:fro:

check out this
it should have SLD . How far are you going down. I can only go half way down my shins w/o losing my arch in the l back. Keep you l back arched at all times if you aren't. You will feel it in the l back somewhat, esp. right after squats

i was going all the way to floor on each rep. just seemed strange i have never been that soar from regular deads. so i thought i may have been doing something wrong.

that sounds a little too far, you probably aren't keeping your back arched. concentrate on that and pushing into the ground w/ your heels and squeezing yo glutes at the top. this may help

thanks for your information i am new and i would hate to get injured now. if anyone has a vid or site with proper form i would apprecate it :fro:

Personally I do them from the floor on each and every rep... I want them to hit my Back, Hams, and Glutes hard... And my back is always sore from them... And yes my back does round over at the bottom.....

this is no prob if you know what you are doing - and if yo wanna hit yo back. but if you are new to lifting, prolly not a good idea:)

Very true... You do need to be very careful with these. You could easily put your lower back in a compromising position.. It is also important to keep your head up and not facing the floor.

I also go all the way down to the floor and arch my back, but I always thought since I do it nice and slow and not jerky that it would make my back and hams stronger in the process (i contract the glutes on the way up). Am I correct or am I going to injure myself?

lol mine does too, I actually think the rounding over is good for your back, it makes those muscles strong.

I find that when I do lifts to strict via text book form, I actually hurt myself......lol =)
