Skipping Vs Running for Cardio

How does skipping compete with running for cardio in terms of stamina and fat burning?
My knee's injured at the mo and running does it no favours but i'm able to skip at a relatively decent pace.
Any ideas?

Thanks

If you can skip for more than 20 miutes then I congratulate you, it knackers me. I would see no problem in skipping for cardio, but it seems quite high impact on your knees imo. Although it may not bother you.

If you're skipping with good form - on your toes as opposed to jumping - then it is surprisingly easy on your knees. You might find yourself with your entire lower legs burning up once you master the form, but its likely to be due to either poor flexibility (calves especially) or simply adjusting to the movement.

Its a great form of cardio. While not as intense as running, its a lot easier on your joints. It can be made pretty intense though. Plenty of ways to mix it up.

Wait are you guys talking about skipping, as in a hop, skip and a jump, or jumping rope?

Damn Pommy Bastards, never know what you guys are talking about!

I thought we were talking about the kind of skipping where you are skipping merrily down the road. I can just imagine bodybuilders skipping down the side of the road.:lmao:

Bwaahahahahahaha I can just see a 250 ibs bodybuilder skipping down the road in his spandex gym clothes. Now that would be a sight.

Jumping Rope is the way to go!! All you need is a good $10-15 Leather Jump Rope and a piece of gym flooring to jump on if you're doing it at home. It's ALOT more economical than shelling out $600-900 on a pretty good home Treadmill.

hahaha, I might try that lol! I run at 3:30am anyway, nobody around. thank god. :silly:

True enough, if no one sees you, it doesn't matter how silly it looks. ;)

"If a bodybuilder skips merrily down his block at 3:30 AM but no one is around to see him, did it really happen?"

I think we all know the answer is no.
