Bake your gear, Underdog. Stick an 18g needle in the stopper and put vial in the oven, on a tray, @ 300F for 20 minutes. Will kill the bugs and burn off excess BA.

I would go to a doctor.......Its not something you want to wait on, docs can't give out information anyways so it doesn't matter. If the area is red and hot get it checked out, you don't want the infection to spread and then have them cut it out.....I've seen it on a few people...I wouldn't even want to take a chance. I'm guessing the reason you take steroids is to look good......well you can't look good with a piece of ur leg missing!

Yep- my thoughts as well. I just hope there's no talk that gets back to my ex..could pose some problems. I'm going to do the hot compresses all night tonight and see how it looks tomorrow. I don't have a fever and the swelling has gone down quite a bit, so I'll give it another day. Really appreciate the help guys.

I just realized your original post said to use Cephalexin instead of Amoxicillan...I had the leftover amoxicillan (date still good) but I'm assuming that's pointless with this type of infection then...

As far as the sterility: I lay out everything first- with the alcohol pads already opened so I can take them out without touching the wrapper. I wipe the Vial top and injection site with different pads. I change out the needle without touching anything, and I hold a pad to the injection site with slight pressure after poking, until I put a band-aid on it. You never know what's floating around in the air during the time the needle is exposed, though...

Right- you said the Amoxicillan isn't effective against 95% of Staph...

In any case, the good news is the swelling and redness have subsided a great deal since taking the Amoxi. I've also been taking Encinachea(sp?) and Honey. I'm going to give it another day because of the improvement. My only worry is that by taking just a couple of days of amoxicillan the bacteria isn't completely killed off and comes back. Anyway- thanks again for the help.
