Simple sugars after workout????? wtf

OK IM GONNA START BY SAYING I KNOW LITTLE ABOUT ROIDS.

Ok, this guy I know, who just got done with a cycle, claims its good to drink a soda after working out to help his 'insulin level' and repair muscle fibers.

His exact words are -- "An insulin spike after a workout helps to quickly repair torn muscle fibers."
 
That's false. It replenishes your glycogen levels when taken with some protein! :Chef: :tuc:
 
About 70 grams of Dextrose and 50 grams of Whey is perfect after a work-out...(Actually, I have read that Cutler will have a Coke and Whey Protein after training) one hour later it a complex carb and low fat protein meal.

No, he is not hurting himself.
 
i prefer dextrose, it has a glycemic index of 100. it spikes insulin and just as chefbone says.. i hear about guys drinkign a coke or 2 after working out, works the same way, also gotta get some whey in there too with it
 
Also it is good to take some R-ALA (like Glucorell R) and creatine with the sugars to enhance the glycogen replenishment and creatine uptake.
 
dextrose will work the best

Coke contains high fructose corn syrup which is basically a 'junk' carbohydrate...unless you buy the mexican coke - we're still talking about sodas right?
