Signing a relationship "lease"

anyone ever heard of this? Apparently people who are just BF/GF decide to sign a lease on their relationship stating they have to stay together for at least the term of the lease, then they decide if they want to keep going out when the lease expires and sign a new lease or something.

Kinda of wierd but still > marriage.

I've heard of it...

I do think it's stupid, but on the other hand, at least it makes you not want to be a shithead or stop taking care of yourself or whatever (assuming you continue to like the person) so at the end of your "lease" the person still wants you.

Overall I do think it's a retarded idea though.

Silly. It depends on the "lease" I guess. lol. Marriage takes care of quite a few legal contingencies with just the one act. That is why it exists at all outside of religious reasons and why it is desired and so popular, why gay couples wanted the right to marry. I would never sign a contract to bind myself with someone unless I wanted to get married unless some of those things were addressed. Not being married can bring unintended consequences for a couple in certain situations no matter how deep their commitment is to each other. It is just the way the laws and traditions of our society are despite individual sentiments towards marriage.

It's not really the same. Marriages are designed to keep both people in, a lease is designed to give people a way out. Just sayin.

Why would you sign a lease for a relationship? You already have a way out. Don't sign anything.

Hmm . . . so, if the lease is 75% of the relationship's useful life, 90% of its fair market value, or contains a bargain purchase option clause (I love this one), do you have to capitalize it on your balance sheet, or can you keep it off-balance sheet? ;)

What a mess

In my experience aka what I've heard, it's not an actual contract just an agreement pretty much saying in x amount of time in the future a boyfriend/girlfriend will discuss whether everything is still hunky dory and worth staying with each other.

Though in those terms, I must admit, it sounds pretty good.

lease agreement: bitch, you serve me the sechuals and sammiches in a timely, satisfying manner, and I agree knot to unleash a daily beat down on yo arse!

while i dated my now wife, every three months I would ask her if she still wanted to stay together. i never wanted her to feel obligated to stay in relationship, and wanted to give her a way out. then i tricked her into marrying me

I've not heard anything about this sort of thing.

All I saw in his post was "have to stay together for the terms of the lease" lol

No offense, nothing personal bc obv it worked out for you, but that's fucking annoying. I hate when guys are like that with me. I think "shut up and stop asking. If I didn't want to be with you, I wouldn't be. "

I'm not gonna read any further if this faggoty comment is any indication of the way this thread is trending.

Maybe for the impulsive on-again/off-again couple to prevent monthly dramatic breakups?

Not that I know anyone like that....

That's the only good thing I could think would come from something like this. It's kinda weird to me but I'm pretty traditional.

god i can't type tonight

lease agreement: you hook me up with 9.5" of your vag and I agree to turn you on to an 8 ball and a C note

So at what point in the relationship would you consider signing a lease?? I've never heard of it...so curious

I'd rather keep it off my balance sheet. It makes it appear I'm doing more with fewer assets.

So if you break the lease... is there anything else that happens? (Like you owe them something) Otherwise why would you care or even make a contract.
I must be missing that part, please explain.
I can imagine walking in on some bish with another dude, "We had a contract Bish!"

What happens if you break the lease?

nothing. i dont know how it would be enforceable in any sort of court since its not a marriage. i guess you could sue for breach of contract but who the fuck would do that if you arent even married. and who would want to stay with someone who doesnt want to in return lol

Now that the specific details of this fascinating concept, I wonder who came up with it; woman man lezzie or gays. I suppose it could be fun if not taken seriously like role playing or something although the comparison doesn't seen to have a lot if parallels

I suppose. I know u two have been in a relationship so u have to admit that perhaps u might be wee bit biased

where u hear that???? i can't think of any situation where a guy can demand anything of a girl before she chooses to date him. Unless she's ugly.

This is dumb!
Trying to control others and a relationship is futile. People change, people are volatile (some stupid)and life just changes.

What there should be a contract for is cheating. One person cheats, fucks up the relationship, then the cheater needs to financially compensate the cheatee.
This way more people would think twice before being assholes!

It's already a civil violation of a marriage contract to cheat.

We just need to add a few more T&C's to the contract:

1) No bitching
2) Be sweet
3) Give it up a lot

how did i miss this one??

I've advocated this for a long time but with marriage..

3 year commitments.. she/he gets a gift at each resigning..
