First movies, now we're getting 3D TV's...wtf is wrong here. Didn't 3D fail once before?

Granted in its infancy you had to wear those awesome red and blue anaglyph glasses, but this is getting carried away. Everything is in IMAX 3-D now and I'm sick of it. Bring back my beloved 2D so I don't have to spend $50 to go to the movies for god sake.

So is 3D here to stay or will it fail again?

Maybe but people are flocking to 3D movies and paying up the wazoo for 3D (eg: avatar).

Don't expect it to go anywher - please it's Hollywood's answer to encourage people not todl movies and go see them in person.

I actually got a live demo of a 62" plasma that is going into production...honestly...it was pretty sick. You can convert ANYTHING into 3d, granted not everything works great and lots of shows would be POINTLESS to even try to watch in 3d, but things like video games and all can be converted...They are trying to make the glasses "stylish", they arent red/blue they are "shutter" glasses, still give you a headache, but not as bad. The NFL has already tested and filmed live games and broadcast them into test theaters and had people in CA watch a football game in 3D...It all has potential now that the technology is there...we will see...Obviously you need to buy the BIGGEST TVs possible to get the real feel...win win for the TV companies...

Peter North's Bukkake Extravaganza 3-D

I think that would be the ultimate IMAX experience in 3-D.

problem is the size of living rooms and stores isn't getting bigger - hence the problem with tv's, consumres, retailers and content providers. Also the major reason hollywood dvd sales have nose-dropped. People's entertainment centers are maxed out with dvd's so no one's buying anymore.

I don't like headaches watching something btw. The next BIG thing though is internet-delivered tv. The capabilities there interactive content are mindboggling there and all your tv viewing habits are about to change soon. :)

3D will be another option, probably with better visuals, but I'll wait until you don't need those annoying glasses.

I saw avatar 3d for the same price as the 2d version. Not all theaters are marking up, and as far as I know everyone I've seen (around here) offers a 3d and 2d version.

I saw the How to Tame a Dragon movie in 3D. Wouldn't have gone had I known it was a 3D fad thing, but it was an awesome and cute movie. 3D has gotten better, but I will still avoid it at all costs, much like I won't buy non-paper books.

Then again, technology is ever-evolving and moving forward. Only olds cling to the past with such abandon.

i was wondering for years why i'm not able to see in 3D... i have horrible astigmatism in my right eye (it's not lazy) but when i took a vision test i was told that i don't have depth perception... how could that be if i can catch stuff with no problem?? fuckers
