Shoulders and tris together?

Backlash

New member
I am experimenting with a new split for my 5x5 (just until the new year I think). Anyways, I am trying to do shoulders and triceps on the same day. What exercises would you guys do?

Yesterday I did:

- Seated bb military: 5x5
- Close Grip bench: 5x5 (I think I'm changing this to 4 board press though since I'm kind of burned out on it)
- cable lateral raises: 2x8 (I also use db lateral raise, just felt like using cables for some reason)
- rolling db extensions: 2x8
- plate front raises: 2x8
- dips: 2x8

My split is currently:

M - rest
T - legs
W - rest
Th - chest and bis
F - rest
Sat - back
Sun - shoulders and tris

What do you think? Note that I do rear delt work on back day when I do all pulling movements (deads, shrugs, rows, etc). Thanks for ANY comments!

Good split Backlash. Depending on your goals, I would drop the front raises, they tend to be hit enough when you bench, incline and overhead press.

i do shoulders and tris on the same day right now. it works out great for me.

i start with shoulders, then hit tris:

seated db oh press(3 sets 10,8,6) or seated bb military press (4x5)
db laterals or upright rows supersetted with db laterals
face pulls or bent over db laterals
close grip bench or weight dips (10,8,6)
skull crushers or cable pushdowns with rope
one armed cable extensions

like edgecrusher said - nix the front raises for the reasons he listed.

Thanks guys. I guess the main reason I did front raises was that I wanted to do a 3rd exercise for shoulders but didn't know what to do. Maybe I'll start doing external rotations (to prevent shoulder injury) on this day instead of chest day.
