Shoulder injury from bench pressing

I was going for a new PR last Saturday, and I'm not sure what went wrong. When I went to unrack the bar (no spotter, I work out at home), I felt a sharp pain in my left shoulder. Like an idiot, I finished my workout and then threw my Sunday papers that night mostly with my left arm. I gave myself a few days off, and then yesterday (Thursday), I gave bench pressing another try. The pain in my shoulder had been gone so I thought maybe I'd done something minor and all was well. It was well, until I started putting more weight on the bar. I had to cut my workout short. Now I'm trying to find out what I most likely did to my shoulder. How long should I take off from working out altogether? How long should I not bench press? What excersises are still okay to do? Deadlifts, BB rows, sqauts, etc? Thanks so much.

dont do anything that causes any pain. do some rehab on it and rest, ice, heat.

if anything you are doing causes pain, the problem will not get better.

go see a doc in a few weeks if it keep bothering you. may have a small tear. I had a tear in my Labrum and it hurt when i did bench press. surgury kind of fixed it...long recovery
