when I was in italy there was know drinking age at all,and they had no problems with kids geting killed or anny thing like that at all.wtf is amerca to imachore as a cuntry to handle it.

i am sure other countries have the same problems....they just dont publicize it because it is in their culture to drink....
 
Youve got a problem and you don't want to face it. Alcholics never think it's a problem. Drinking that much is very bad for you. Of course their should be a legal drinking age. I think you're joking.

I don't believe that. Absolutely stupid. You make it legal for young teenagers to drink and you're gonna have a lot more accidental deaths. Drinking to excess on a regular basis is stupid, much like smoking cigarettes or abusing steroids. Remember I have a young daughter and you have young children. Do you want them getting drunk regularly?
 
I think there shouldnt be any laws or regulation on a drinking age. The government shouldnt have to be Americas mommy and tell us how to live our lives. Its funny how we think we have all this freedom, but in reality we have very little and its only going to get worse with the advances in technology. I mean really how can you just say that 21 is the age that you can drink? What is the big moment in a 21 year olds life that makes him more resposible than a 19 year old. Its not about age its about maturity. Sure if you disagree with me your probably thinking well its because the older you are the more mature you are. This definetly isnt true, just look around at all the drunks in the bar that have no self control and dont know when to say enough is enough. I feel as though im more mature as a 20 year old than a lot of 30 year olds i know. Hey if you want to see immaturity look around on this site and read all the posts about women from the horny old men sounding like they're 15 years old again, bragging that they have 9 inch penis' and can have sex like pornstars. I guess my argument is that you can stamp a age on something and cover all bases. If you make a wrong move yes you should be punished but to enforce a law for the sake of keeping dumbass drunks from doing stupid shit is worthless, they're going to do it anyways. I say legalize eveything and America would be a better place.
 
I think it should be lowered to 18. Let's get real... the rest of the world has it at 18.. and they have less problems than the US. And 99% of people start drinking senior year of HS... freshman year of college (18y/o). So either way it's going to happen.

obviously i said NO based on my childrens welfare..I do not need some guy who is 16 picking up my daughter for a date then smashing into a damned tree while driving intoxicated and killing her......
It is true tho no other country is as irresponsible as the u.s when it comes to teens drinking and fatalities......wonder why!

As a general rule and without a doubt, people become more responsible as they age. Why do you think insurance is so high on the 18-25 year old group?
I work with this age group and the majority of them act stupid. But, most are rednecks and dolts where I work.

You admit that it's a problem and that's good. Would you really vote to abolish the drinking age law? I have taken steroids to excess at times, it's a choice I made, but I know it's not the wisest thing. Should we make it legal for 14 year olds to take steroids?
 
Lowered to 18 or 16 is what I would like, everyone I know started way before that and we are all just fine, I dont see the point of waiting for 21 for something to be legal that everyone already does way before that .....
 
What's crazy is that alcohol is probably one of the top drugs that are so dangerous as to be responsible for most drug fatalities, yet it's legal and you can't pass out and drive drunk no matter how much weed you smoke, yet it's illegal. Doesn't make sense. I don't like either drug. Unless done in moderation, too many people abuse them and ruin lives.

I don't believe they can, drugs are a major problem in many European countries. I have read. Some other countries don't need to illegalize drugs because it's in their culture not to do drugs. It will always be a problem here. Legalize it for young people and it will only get worse.

Its funny, i remember in highschool, the foreign exchange students would tell me how odd is was that "all we american kids wanted to do was go out on weekends and party to get drunk". they would say how it was no big deal.

3 months later they would be asking "when can we go out drinking"?
 
The issue I have with the drinking age being 21 is that we can send our young men off to war at age 18, they can legally marry, vote & buy/smoke cigarettes....HOWEVER they cannot have a beer....

So you're telling me that the 19 yo who just came back from Iraq after 6+ months cannot have a beer??

There should be an age limit. I think it should be 18, when you legally become an adult.

Our country won't be responsible with alchohol like in Italy, it's not set in our culture.

We'd be straight if it was like Italy from the beginning, it would be ingrained.

Evidently, if you feel the need to judge people because they use alcohol or use cocaine or other drugs, then you should be judged just as harshly for using steroids.

And I understand the term and the difference but if you wanna get off of your box of soap for a second let me just ask you would you be comfortable catching your daughter doing a line of coke off her make=up mirror and she replies, "Daddy I only use cocaine. I dont abuse it."

I'm judging them as being irresponsible with their health. Cocaine is a bad drug from what I've heard, people who use it usually end up abusing it or other drugs. I would be extremely upset if my daughter used cocaine from what I've heard about it. She smokes too and I'm upset about that, even if it's only a few, it will be hard to kick the habit later. You want to destroy your health? Go ahead, it's your body.

Well it depends. It could work here. But Americans love to drink. It's like the college drunkedness is what every highschooler looks forward to. It would take a couple generations to phase something like that out of the youth.

work mostly, 9 days straigt now, college too, never thought Id do homework after high school but I put it off long enough so I am doing it now.
 
Shit, I think they should lower the drinking age (16? 18?) and raise the driving age to 21.

When my son graduated high school he had already enlisted in the military. He said he wanted some beer. Husband and I said fine, you buy we'll fly.

As far as I'm concerned, if he was old enough to put his life on the line for God and country, then by God he had the right to pollute his liver.
