Should I stay or go?

So it's official... I HATE... No LOATHE my job. It's sales, the targets are ridiculous, people pretty unreasonable, and I feel I'm getting run ragged.

Good points?
Free gym membership
10min walk away (don't pay for travel)
Friends train there

Bad points?
Ridiculous expectations/targets
Stressful
Not doing what I wanna do... ( gym instructor)
Money could be better (quite commission based)

I've been told there won't be a coaching job until september, but even then I reckon that won't be around anymore.

So basically, based on what I've said, what do YOU think I should do?

They said I need to give a months notice, but I dunno... Tbh I'm not really that reliant on the money, but the job market is pretty slow ATM and don't wanna jump ship without something else. But then again if I'm not happy after 4 months then...

Steal everything you can first.

Then quit when they start to catch on .

what percentage of the people you work with are actually hitting the targets?

Well when there were 3 of us, only 1 hit the daily targets set, but that's because she did some dodgy stuff. I've been targeted to do 2 sales, get 20 new name and numbers, and book 8 appts. And that's after being off for a day.

And your first bit of advice makes the most sense :)

Goddamn I hate sales jobs as well. When I first got out of the pokey I took one because it was either that or work for my mother....which would be almost as bad as sales. I think I lasted three weeks before I had to gtfo of there.

You were in the slammer? For what? Please say "hooking".

Sales truly isn't for everybody. I worked in retail selling TVs for almost 5 years. I liked it for the most part, but my numbers usually met the expectations. Circuit City really sucked there towards the end. It almost got to the point that if a customer was buying a naked TV, we practically had to refuse to sell the TV to them.

I would get out of sales. It's too stressful for no reason, and the money isn't good enough.

Thats the thing... I can do the job, and when it goes well for me it goes very well, but like I just feel it takes so much out of me. I'm pissed because I've done 4 tours today and closed 0 of them. It's good it bothers me otherwise It shows I don't care. But I feel I get taken for a ride alot of the time too, and that bothers me.

I worked for circuit city selling TVs too I know what you mean unless you sold them on the CA insurance and a few cables you would get chewed out that when I started hating it they would tell us to lie about services etc anything it took

LOL our store was consistently top 10 in the company, not that that says a lot since the company went out of business, but our goal was to attach $350 of accessories on every TV. Good luck convincing everybody to buy a surround system after the stock crash of October 2008.

lol i love sales, i live for it, i was misserable when i wasn't in sales

I feel ya man, I hate sales, and tracking to daily numbers is the worst.

Why not start doing personal training on the side and once you get a client list built tell the gym to fugg off.

do everything you can to see what it takes to get fired. if i was rich id go from job to job doing this for fun. my max (tied) so far is from a gas station in high school and a restaraunt shortly afterwards. got fired 3 times each. the final one at the gas station it was like minus 35 and i pulled out a hose to ice over the pad hoping a car would slam into another but only some jackass fell, and of course he complained and theres me on camera hosing down the whole pad for 20 minutes lol ahh good times. made work alot more pleasurable. u just have to stop caring whatsoever and do whatever you feel like. ie: watch office space

hell, i was 16, stoned and didnt know how else to occupy my time. ive robbed that place blind, hooked up with one of my co-workers a few times there, fell asleep everywhere, almost burnt the place down once lighting ethanol on fire. i tried to put it out with the mop but the mop caught on fire then i started trying to smash it on the ground to beat it out and little fire balls went everywhere. that shit doesnt burn out. i hated that place till i stopped caring, then it was hella fun

Yeah it is the worst. It gets to like 7.30pm, and I'm supposed to finis at 6.30, and they are like 'ok, so where are you sales coming from?' and I'm like 'they aren't lol.

Btw Earthrider I'll step aside for to if you want me job buddy :)

And CobBra666 those are some pretty funny stories. I'll certainly bare your method in mind lol.
