Should I move to Phoenix or the Boston area?

I am planning on moving because I hate California. My choices are, Phoenix/Scottsdale- where I dont know anyone but would still be close to LA(for musical reasons) or New England- Boston area where I have allot of family. I wonder how the job market is in those places. Lord knows it sucks here! Boston is close enough to NYC for my band(again, musical reasons) so that would work as well. Does having family around outweigh moving to a city closer to where I already am? These are the questions I am asking myself.

Anyone have any advice?

I believe there are thousands of Greeks in the boston area so that's got to be a plus:D

Is New York really switched on to your band's style of music Red. I don't know, but i would imagine that the west coast would be more favourable for that. New York doesn't strike me as a cutting edge rock town.

The job market in Phoenix kinda' sucks right now. If you can do construction, there's always work in that field. Other than that though... there's a good chance you'd get stuck with a shitty call-center job. (There's a million of those here.)

BigRed, my partner at work is trying to make the move back to phoenix with a law enforcement agency out there, but there seems to be a hiring freeze nationwide for all agencies. anyway, he says the cost of living is WAY cheaper out there than it is here in SD. might be something to look into. the plus side would be you get to tint ALL of your windows on your vehicle.

Hey VinylGroover, what's up man?
Well, NYC is pretty good for any music really. I just need access to LA or NYC for showcasing for labels. LA is pretty homoginized as far as hard rock- lots of sound alike nu-metal bands. I just cant make any money here in Cali and it is cutting into my being able to do my music. So...I dont know. I just got back from Boston, I was up there for a week. My girl wants to move there if its better than here(financially anyway). I am not looking for a permanent place to settle or anything, just a place to make some money and get things rolling.

I dont care about the weather too much anymore. I am more concerned with being happy or at least not miserable. I really dont know about the job market in the Northeast either but my bro lives there and claims there are lots of jobs.

Oh and pussy definately=good.

Well San Diego is not too cheap either. I wouldn't actually live in Boston- more like the North Shore. That is where my bro and my dad live. Its still pricey but out here in Cali its Florida wages and New York rents. Not too good.

Phoenix is definately cheaper. I just dont know anyone there and I would have to find a job. My girl has a degree in enviromental science and she hasn't found work here in that field either- she has been a bar manager for awhile until she gets something in her field. Damn crappy economy!
