Hi Gladiator
I remember you too. You said you were going to try the Clomid after pro-hormones cycle to restart T production. I haven't got the PM anymore or I'd have reread it.
I cannot add much to what's been said. You need to go from what your bloods tell you, as RickRock advises. I'm having a confab with a guy in a similar situation as your own, well several guys in fact. My experience of talking with others is that a level of 299 (total T) is unlikely to be treated with HRT at your age. As unfair as it seems, GP's know little of androgens bar what a reference range tells them. The reference range for you puts you round about low-normal. At this level many symptoms of low testosterone may be present, but the only advice you'll get (if any) is to exercise and eat healthily. However, should erectile disfunction and libido come into play, it may sway a doctor to take your level more seriously.
Still, TRT is a solution if this is indeed diagnosed as a health problem in your case. Nevertheless, I'd urge you to regularly monitor your blood levels for Free and Total T; Luteinizing hormone, Follicle Stimulating Hormone; oestriadol, and prolactin. Ask your doctor to ensure he tests for all these, because identifying a cause or source of your problem will help you hone in and focus on a specific solution.
As for what you can do in the mean time?
Well, it's essential you stay off-cycle for a long enough period of time to gauge your natural levels of all the above hormones. Did you manage to read the article about restarting testosterone production? Did you glean anything from it of use to your own situation?
Now, I'm not an advocate of nutritional supplements that have dodgy or inflated reputations in the absence of scientifically backed evidence to support them. However, there is some evidence to suggest that - in some people - Tribulus (with a high percentage of saponins content) raises levels of Luteinizing Hormone, which in turn signals the testes to secrete testosterone. I suppose you could see what happens over a period of 8 weeks or so. I'm not sure even if that would suffice to restart/increase T levels permanently, but you won't know unless you try. I'd say there's about a 20% chance it might work to some extent, but far less, probably 4%, for Tribulus to restart permanently.
It might just be a case of time. It can take more than 12 months for some guys to get back to good mid-range levels of natural testosterone. Moreover, for you, this might be as good as your going to get now you're into your third decade. It's a shame you didn't get a baseline reading of testosterone prior to doing any cycles at all. This would be the very best way of evaluating and making comparisons, as to whether this is your absolute natural level, or conversely, if you are hypogonadal.
At the end of the day though, you need to get the blood work done.
All the best.
Craig
