10% of the population donates blood. So likely only 10% of the already much smaller homosexual population would donate if they were allowed, and even then, they don't all have HIV.

if homosexuals donate blood just as often as straight people, then that isn't relevant at all. You're still doubling the amount of hiv+ donor blood.

the problem is that hiv screening isn't 100% effective, and also that hiv isn't detectable in blood tests until at least a week after infection, probably more. Given how often gays fuck random dudes, it just isn't worth the significantly increased aids risk for a small % increase in available blood
