A few days ago, Dunk, one of the site's most respected Platinum Members, generously indicated that he would like to show his support for the site by investing in 1 million Karma Hits. Here's what he posted for your review:

Three days later, after much careful consideration, I posted the following response:

I would approach this from an Adam Smith point of view and say yes, if he wishes to make a purchase, let him. Don't let the Keynsians put limits upon the Free-Market system!

If you made the exchange rate high enough, I don't think he would mind. You aren't flooding the markey with karma, so you aren't going to create an inflationary situation. You are just allowing someone to buy "bonds", let us say.

Purchasing karma does not give you power, or respect. Take a look at the top ten karma millionaires. See how gjohnson5 has 284875 hits? He bought them. Wootoom received large donations from his woman. People know these things. Whoring is the best way to get karma, aside from posting porn (aka perk) and winning it in the bookie forum. Some people place a lot of importance on karma, and why shouldn't they when the site is set up to make someone feel that way? Lowering the price of a million hits is like slapping someone who "earned" them in the face.

Dunk's my boy and all, but if he is to be swole with 1,000,000 hits, he better purchase them full price, win it in the bookie room, or whore it.

Right now people will pay $50 for 150,000 points.

but once most people haev 500,000 karma hits, the 150,000 wouldn't be worth $5

considering i paid more then $200 for my lifetime plat.. i'd say this is a really good deal.
