Shooters...

Looks sweet! I haven't followed gun technology in years (I need to get back into it).

Don't do it! lol

It gets expensive and is addictive! Great fun though.

I still have to get my reloader, dies for various calibers and a good shotgun for 3-gun comps. But I am already building my next AR in my head.

Anyone have a suggestion or experience with optics they prefer or have experience with?

I am looking for one for my, as Scots says "precious little m4"

Right now I am leaning towards this...

Our normal COF has targets from 4-425 yards so the combo red dot and 4x would be great.

Any suggestions or input would be great.

IMO it really comes down to personal preference and how much $$ you want to spend.

That trijicon is a nice looking set up and a lot of LEO and Military peeps use it.

I personally have no experience with them, but I do have an Aimpoint which I really like and also a Eotech holo with the 4 X magnifier which is really nice.

Which aimpoint and eotech do you have Biker?

I just figured I would get a combo scope/red dot to start instead of buying several different models. I am going to check it out this week.

I really liked an EOTech I played with but a couple weeks ago I played with a reflex sight that is kindof like a dot but theres no batteries. It was a very small bright dot in a metal housing but I can't find it on the net.

I'm starting an AR myself. In Kalifornia it's hard to get a completed rifle that isn't used and even then there's very few FFL holders that will handle them. I bought a stripped lower.

I've got dod-sights on a number of handguns, but none on any rifles. For the ranges you mentioned, the dot will be great close, but less effective as the range increases. I'm sure that you know this though. I have an UltraDot that has 4 different size dots that you can switch between, but it's not something that you'll do in the middle of a string of fire. Just be aware that even a small dot will cover most, if not all of the target at longer ranges. Are the majority of the targets more than 100 yards? That would be my range at which I'd opt for a conventional scope over a dot-sight. And the vertical crosshair on a scope makes hold-over a lot easier than with a dot too.

Col. The COF has a pretty even mix of targets and it changes every week. That is why I was looking at this optic.

4x scope with a red dot mounted on top. Seems like the best of both worlds to me. It also has BUIS on it as well.
