as luck would have it, I DON'T REALLY FUCKING CARE about anyone except my friends and family...and, if everyone was like me, we wouldn't have any problems because everyone would be taken care of...charity starts in the home, capiche??
 
ok...so maybe I'm not so good with sociology but

this is classism, not racism

the poor (both working and welfare) who are disproportionately minorities in general are completely not represented in our legal system

I've seen this in the neighborhood I'm from with poor white kids
they are subjected to harrasssment from the cops, charge stacking and an almost total lack of defense within the legal system
I studied law for all of about two semesters until I got really jaded by this in a hurry

went to a boys club voluntarily to play ball when I was young

lots of kids were from the project.

the boys club tought them to be more civil because poverty at home does not allow supervision
 
i have no problem with the demographics of prison.
if the white legal system is so racist, then leave the country

I think the better question is not why so many blacks are in prison but why they are committing the crimes that put them there. Its too easy to just say the system is flawed, the man keeping them down, etc. But bringing out the underlying reasons blacks commit more crimes per capita than anyone else is the fundamental question that needs to be asked. As with all things that happen on a large statistical scale, there are many factors such as environment, socioeconomic status, nature and nurture, etc.
Of course in order to have a discourse such as that you would have to be in agreement that blacks are being put in prison because of the crimes they are committing, and not racism. That in and of itself is still a considerable hurdle to overcome in the national discourse.

The differing drug offense penalties are notable but irrelevant. Drug dealing whether its coke or crack underlies the bigger problem of why blacks turn to drug dealing in such large numbers. You brought up the reasons of poor parenting, poor educational institutions, and Im sure there are a whole host of many other environmental and socioeconomic factors that contribute, and all are valid and worth examination by the media and government. But once again we have to first look beyond the tired arguments of racism and oppression before we can uncover the true and relevant issues contributing to the blacks disproportionate prison populace.

and the crimes are typically more violent when associated with cooked up cola.
This is a sterotype, but the suburban kid driving to the hood to buy yayo typically will have money that is not stolen.
same with his older white counterparts, the weekend yayo party crowd...most of the time they will have jobs and can support their habbits.
crackheads, on the other hand, usually don't have income and have to resort to crime to feed their fix...and thus the impact on society is greater with crack as opposed to cola.
and thus the laws are stiffer...mean and racist? meh, makes sense to this white devil.

The solution is simple. Let the blaques commit the crimes and when whites complain, tell them it's their fault. If they commit crimes against hispanics or asians or mixed THEN we lock them up. No reason a blaque person who kills a whitey (unless they're rich or attractive) should go to jail! Blasphemy!

Im implying that its much too complex to simply say "racist" or "system is keeping the man down" when its a myriad of factors like environment, and socioeconomic conditions throughout life, poverty, upbringing, etc.

How many African Americans in prison had a father or grandfather that was a slave.....How many African-Americans in prison grew up under Jim Crow...very few...most imprisoned African American males were born in the last thirty years. How many African-American males in prison were victimized by LBJ's "great society" where families were encouraged to not have a male in the household so they could receive greater welfare benefits? Most of them...That isn't my analysis, I work with an African American friend that does drug treatment for low income people. I volunteered to re-vamp their IT infrastructure as charity to the community. He is strong on personal responsibility and weening people off their dependence on government as part of their recovery.

How many white minorities have been oppressed....all of them.

How many minorities, white, black, asian or otherwise have overcome their situation to be successful....most of them.
 
The reason blacks prefer crack is that it is cheaper because there is very little cocaine in it. The whites and affluent blacks prefer cocaine as a status symbol. They are also more discrete about it than crack users. And from personal experience, a majority of crimes are committed by black people. I also know this from personal experience. Everyone in this country has the same opportunities to pull themselves up by their boot straps and succeed. In fact, the black people have greater opportunities than the the white people. So you have to ask yourself, why do they and in general poor people not avail themselves of these opportunities to succeed? Simple, welfare. We have become a welfare state, where it is more economical to live on welfare than to get an education and do something constructive with your life. In addition, the gov't prefers welfare (and would like most, if not all of us on welfare) because we become dependent on it, and will do what they say so that we may stay on it. IE, they can control us by making us all equal and poor and totally dependent upon the gov't for our existence.

Impossible. If we were all on welfare nobody would be paying taxes and there would be no welfare to hand out. The government wants you to go to work and pay your taxes. Oh, and they want you to die shortly after you retire and stop working.

the reason why you are in part wrong is the oversimplified statement of "I DON'T REALLY FUCKING CARE about anyone except my own"

that thinking automatically leads to a tribalism and over focusing on just your kind ( whatever kind may mean to you) this inventively leads to collision with other groups.... and thus a state of War or Anarchy.

You need to good bro and all you other gung ho guys "separate the private self from the civic self" and use each when it is appropriate.

Which continent was further developed in say, the 17th century: Europe or Africa?

What drives one race to progress faster than another?

Would black people have progressed as far as they have by now if they were never taken from their tribes and brought into slavery in the West? Realize that genital mutilation is still practiced over there among other primitive customs; same in South America and parts of Australia. People are different for very natural reasons, much of which probably has to do with geography. People behave and ultimately over many, many generations will appear much differently to survive in extreme heat vs extreme cold. It would be interesting to see what would happen after 100 or so generations to a black tribe placed in the middle of Alaska with no one else around. Likewise for Alaskans placed in the middle of Africa.
