Sheetrock

I hired this guy to sheetrock 1 room in my basement. Very cheap $700 to rock and paint... He came one day. DID`NT KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT it. But what the hell it`s my basement. I gave him $200 and he never came back. IF I talk to him he says "tomorrow" and NEVER comes.

He DID NOT do $200 worth of work. He put up a few sheets. It`s really bugging me , NOT for the money but the fact he ripped me off. The boards are sitting OUTSIDE my house (covered) but it rained EVERY damn day this month. (NJ)

What would you do?

#1 Forget about it and move on

#2 Call the guy (on his cell) enough times for him to answer?
I`m sorta doing that one. His phone bill is gonna kill him. lol

#3 small claims court? No, I don`t have a contract. But I wanna waste his time and not let him think he pulled one on me.

I figured he`s done $140 work, and that`s being generous. So if he gives me $60 back I`m good.

Trust me at this point it`s not the mesely $$$ it`s the principle.

First, get the sheetrock inside out of the weather, even if it's covered it can get wet.

Then get a couple friends and put the sheetrock up yourself. It's not that hard.

As for the other guy, write it off as a loss and move on.

Try and resist the urge to spray his entire front law with bleach and whip out a Dewalt and a box of sheet rock screws and finish the job myself.


All that screwing should keep your mind off the desire to kill him.

Wow, I`m surprised so far at the responses. I thought I was gonna get "kill him" posts instead.

You guys don`t know the whole story though... but anyway maybe I`ll just do that (forget about it)

He called me yesterday at 12:20 IN THE MORNING and said he was sorry that he was`nt coming and would come this Saturday. lol 12:20 AM My whole family was asleep. lol

I sheetrocked my whole basement and did a good job (check out gonelifting`s gym) I even did the drop ceiling by myself, but i don`t really have the time now for this room and spackling prowess. lol
