She asked me to open the car door for her

...and if she isn't worth the small "effort" of opening a door...then keep lookin.

I think you guys misunderstand the reason for not doing it. Or atleast, for why more people don`t do it.

Oh for crying out loud, you were just opening her car door. If you had issues with doing it or were going to complain about it later, then you should have told her to open her own damn door. No flame, but it's not a big deal that she asked you to do that.

Right i agree but on the flip side of the coin why is it enough of a big deal for her to be tortured by it and finally request it after a few drinks? No matter don't bother answering this sillyness has gone on long enough.

That`s not the same thing. She told him she wants him to open her door whenever they go somewhere. Not even close to the same thing.

No, actually, it is. If he doesn't want to put forth the effort to open her door, then he needs to say so. Not get pissed because she wants him to and he is doing it. He has the choice.

LOL!!!!!!!! This thread is long! No wonder men and women clash so much...

Maybe she was just slightly drunk when she said it... Maybe it came out wrong?

:fro:

Desire to do so is what should be important. The act means far less.

Exactly. If he doesn't really want to do it, then why is he? He should have the guts to say, look, this isn't my thing. He's not obligated to open her door.

Simple. I do this for you, you do something for me.

Just because he opens the door for you doesn`t mean jack. Similarly, just because he isn`t falling over himself to please you doesn`t mean he doesn`t care.

No he`s not. I`ve never went out with, known someone who has, or met a girl, who ever said she wants the door opend for her everytime. You can bet if I did, I`d not be going out with her after finding out.

You're right, there's a lot more than opening a door. And frankly, I would never personally ask a guy to open doors for me. Either he does that of his own free will or he doesn't. I'm not going to get pissed if he doesn't. Obviously, this woman wants to be pampered. Good for her. It's a nice thought, but she shouldn't be asking him to do that. I'm not saying it was right of her to ask. I'm simply saying if he doesn't want to do it, then say so. Don't get on this board and bitch about it.
