Send your kid to private school and you get a tax rebate. N.H. does something right

Re: Send your kid to private school and you get a tax rebate. N.H. does something ri

And Lestat, I do agree with you that education is probably one of the most important issues we need to fix right now, but we have to fix whats broken...which is the public school system as a whole. As Razor said, get rid of the unions, increase teacher pay (and accountability), and fire teachers if their kids dont perform.

Unfortuantely hell will freeze over before Teachers get rid of their unions, and allow school boards the ability to fire teachers like you would fire people in the private sector.

Ain't gonna happen. Teachers are doing everything possible to prevent people from sending their kids to private schools.

That's okay. Let the public school graduates of this country continue to lose their skilled jobs to Chun Li and Ashok. Fine by me.

no wonder the schools suck. No one wants to be a public school teacher, it does not pay anything.

It depends on how you look at it. If they spend 5 minutes a day in front of their class, then pass-out worksheets for the kids to do and babysit the rest of their time, then its the most over-payed job out there. Especially considering its 9 months out of the year and comes with guaranteed lifetime employment.

But a lot of teachers actually teach and stand-out among their peers. Those are the ones that are severely underpaid.

But until the teachers unions get lost and we can tell the difference, I guess they'll have to settle for less pay.

What I'm saying is that people dont want the job. There are no quality public school teachers because the pay is equal to that of a babysitter.

I wouldnt do it.

Few educators at any level get into it for the pay. To many people, education is a calling.

you just said earlier that most public school teachers were nothing but babysitters?

if its truly such a noble calling, then they deserve to be paid a decent salary

I see wht you are getting at though.

i dont see the purpose of the union though - they could barely get a decent wage negotiated. some union. lol maybe thats why they get such good retirement benefits
